Interview

Tell us a little about yourself and your latest/upcoming release.
I am Alexandrea Weis a writer of romance, thrillers, YA, historical, and paranormal stories. I was born and raised in New Orleans and most of my books take place in my hometown or have pieces of The Big Easy woven into the storyline. The Secret Brokers is a thriller series that grew from my romantic thriller Nicci Beauvoir Series. It’s about a man finding his way back from heartache. After falling hard for a woman who loved another, Dallas August returns to his dark world of selling secrets, figuring that’s all he knows how to do. Eventually, he learns to come to terms with who he is and what he does.

Do you read reviews of your books?
What do you do when you read a not-so-nice one? I read most reviews, good and bad. All reviews are helpful, you remember them when you write your next work and try not to repeat mistakes brought up by reviewers. But you must also write for yourself and not the reviewers. It’s a tightrope, but one all writers must traverse.

What was your inspiration for the book?
The Nicci Beauvoir series was the inspiration. It consists of To My Senses, Recovery, and Sacrifice and introduces the reader to the character of Dallas August. I loved writing about him, and his secretive lifestyle so much, I wanted to start him in spin-off series. That is how The Secret Brokers was born.

What are you working on now?
I’m putting to bed my next novel which is a Christmas release called The Christmas Tree. It’s a paranormal love story. And I am also juggling my February 2021 release that is the next book in the St. Benedict Series, A River of Secrets which follows up after the disturbing events of Death by The River.

What do you need to set the mood for you to write?
Nothing. All I need is my computer and I write. I spend eight to ten hours a day writing, so it has become part of my lifestyle.

How many pen names do you have?
None. Everything I write is under Alexandrea Weis.

How did you come up with your character’s name?
Dallas was named after my cousin and someone I admire for his cool wit and charm. August sounded powerful and like a man to be reckoned with.

This or That?
Cat or Dog? Both. Anything with fur.
Heels or flats? Flats.
Snow or rain? Rain
Movies at home or Movie Theater? Home.
Fall or winter? Fall
Vampires or Werewolves? Werewolves
Ghost or Zombies? Ghosts
Action movies or Chick flicks? Action
Horror movies or Mystery movies? Horror
