TQOTD - What's the scariest book you've read (or want to read?)

OK folks, it’s Halloween… we can’t let the day go by without honoring it in some way! We can pretend all we want that we’re too old for dressing up, getting candy and being scared... Who are we kidding, we LOVE dressing up and getting freebies, right? But who loves to be scared?? I’ll be the first to admit I’m a huge scaredy cat! I hide my eyes and slink into corners, but it’s such a rush and a thrill to be scared. Movies are one thing.. they show us what to be scared about, hint us with music and then BAM! The killer runs across the screen. But BOOKS are a different matter! You’re in your only little world, soaking up every word and turning page after page not paying attention to anything else. The detailed descriptions are there and these vivid images are carved into our mind and are of our own creation. I love scary books!

Which brings me to today’s question: What’s the scariest book you've ever read? Or what’s on the list?
I can’t place the scariest book I’ve ever read, but I know which one I WANT to read: Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children by Random Riggs. Now if the title is not enough to freak you out… try the book cover:

What is scarier than children? With their sweet voices and lullabies? Um… everything!!
"A mysterious island… An abandoned orphanage… A strange collection of very curious photographs." PECULIAR children! Run, just run! Added bonus... it comes with the creepy photos!!! AHHHHHH

So now you know the book that creeps me out to the fullest, but that I can’t wait to read… what are you recommending for me next?

LET ME KNOW!
