Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…

That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

          My Review:

Hopeless was simply amazing. This book was written perfectly. Hoover's characters show so much growth from the beginning of the novel to the end. I absolutely love to read that in books. There was so much character development. There wasn't any instant love. That's one of the things I loved about this novel. Sky didn't lose her senses when it came to Holder. This story touches you in so many levels. You have to admire Hoover for writing her book that stands out in this particular genre. She made Hopeless stand out above and beyond. And those who have read this book has to agree with me.

Hopeless is a powerful, emotional and heartbreaking story. Have you ever heard of the phrase "What's done in the dark, comes out to the light?" Basically that's what Hopeless is about. It's about dark, horrible, hidden secrets that are meant to break you. Those secrets are revealed in this story. Hopeless touches a subject so taboo that most of the time it stays in the dark and eats away at the victim. I cried with so much pain for the main character and for every other girl out there that has been or is going through this situation.

But Sky isn't alone throughout this ordeal. Lucky for her, she has Holder. He's so in tune with her. His love for her is unconditional and that pulled at my heartstrings. His character was so well written. Holder knew that with Sky, things needed to be handled differently and with delicate care. Because he was just a victim in this story as well as Sky. However with Sky, my pain for her is raw. I feel for her the most. She goes through so much in this novel. Things are meant to break you for good. I just want to take her in my arms and embrace her, shield her from the people that has caused her pain.

Hoover wrote an exceptional story with Hopeless. I don't remember a book affecting me with the intensity that Hopeless did. I cried for Sky, for Holder and Sky's mother. Together they go through one of the worst experiences ever. Hopeless is easily one of my favorite reads of 2012. Throughout this story, I came to understand these characters and I fell in love with them. Together they make this story what is it is a 5 stars and a definite must buy and a definite Good Choice for Reading!!!!
