This Saturday we'd like to share three pieces of news for you....
TEEN NOVELS ARE RATED-R!
In my opinion, the kids are hearing these words every day in school, with friends, even with family. What's the big deal?
Are You Shocked By This At All?
E.L. JAMES GOES Y.A!
In an interview, James has said that she will be writing two more novels, one of which is a Y.A. paranormal novel. No word yet on the content of this novel.

I was on the Publishers Weekly website earlier this week and found a great piece they did on MG and YA book covers. I thought I'd share my favorites with you! To see the full list, you can visit their site here.

ReplyDeleteI'm OK with SOME YA novels being "rated R," as long as the content that gives them that rating is intended to be realistic to actual teen life, not just added in for shock value. Even those of us who don't use foul language hear it all the time; it doesn't really bother me that much so long as it's not excessive.
ReplyDeleteThere are novels that I read as required in high school that contained adult themes and language, and I've never seen a problem with it....as with any media, as long as the graphic parts and integral to the novel and not gratuitous for the sake of titillating or shocking, it's all fine by me. :)
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to stop in and post that you have an awesome site! =)
