QUESTION OF THE DAY
HEY GOODCHOICE READERS!!
So in my experience, some of the best books in the world come in two's or three's. A great book series is like your favorite television show - you just want to keep coming back for more. The really great series make you sad that you won't ever see your characters again. And the Best of the Best series are the ones that you will actually read over and over again.
My top three books series are: (and I picked these because if they came out with a book tomorrow, and it cost me $100, I'd probably still buy it! LOL)
1) The Left Behind Series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins
2) The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
3) The Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer
QUESTION OF THE DAY: What do you think makes an AWESOME book series? And what are you favorites? You can list your top three - or just your favorite favorite favorite. Let us know!!!

What makes a good series: good reoccurring characters!
Hey Maria, Your aunt, my sister wants me to answer this question for her. Her favorite series is:
ReplyDeleteOutlander Series By Diana Gabaldon.
She states its a time travel historical romance. It has 7 books so far and she says she's on book 3 and that the series is being made into a movie.
My favorite series is an old series by V.C. Andrews. The flowers in the attic series. That series was soooo good. And they made it into a movie, which of course wasn't as good as the book. Plus they changed the movie a bit which always always sucks to me.
I think what makes a really good series is one that makes you go, "NOOOOOOOOO. It can't end now!!!" when you finish the latest one. You spend an entire year thinking about the next one, and the second it goes on pre-order, you have your credit card out.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite series at the moment is the Shiver series by maggie Stiefvater. I'm so on edge waiting for the next one!! But some of my others are The Harry Potter series, the Twilight series, and any series by Meg Cabot.
@Vicky - that is so true!! There are so many series that I have been so sad to see end.
ReplyDelete@everyone else: thanks for the fantastic suggestions! I am totally adding these series to my "to-read" list!
My favorite series has been JD Robb's "In Death" series. How do I know that out of the maybe 50 series I read that this is the one? Cause when I discovered it, I collected all the books in series that were out at that time (about 35 counting all the short stories that I also ran down). I then read them in 5 to 6 book batches over the next several months. When I was nearing the end, I started limiting myself to no more than 100 pages a day to make it last. Once I got completely caught up, I was in mourning for Eve and Roarke. Now when a new book comes out, I get it, but I make myself wait at least a week before reading it, keeping it where I can see it and I will pick it up, turn it over and know how many hours till I can indulge myself again. And the biggest reason I know it's the best, I will stop at any blog that's reviewing one of the books in the series
ReplyDeletejust to put in my two cents worth.
A great book series haunts my thoughts and dreams.
ReplyDeleteMy top favorites:
The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini
Wicked Lovely Novels by Melissa Marr
The Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa
