Rhett planted a soft kiss on my cheek, his face glowing by the firelight. The heat from the flames and his body tucking closer to mine gave me all the warmth I savored.

I took a bite of a chocolate-stuffed doughnut and gave Rhett a bite, too. Then Rhett peeled an orange and fed it to me. There were plenty of pastries and fruits, but we shared to leave more for the kids.

“I’m never going to forget this moment. These times are precious.” His lips brushed my earlobes.

I leaned into his touch, licking chocolate off my fingers. “You think they’ll miss us if we leave?” My voice was seductive, an invitation.

“Is this a request or a summons, my queen? Or perhaps you’re teasing me?” Rhett kissed the back of my neck and then wrecked me with a slow lick.

I quivered and melted into a puddle. “Whatever you want to call it, I don’t care.”

A soft growl escaped Rhett’s lips, a promise of what he had planned for me.
