From Cindy Miles, bestselling new adult author of STUPID GIRL, comes the next installment of her blockbuster Stupid in Love series – STUPID BOY.
Brax Jenkins and Olivia Beaumont are the most envied couple at Winston University—but the so-called “virginity dare,” orchestrated by Brax’s old fraternity, almost tore them apart. Now, a new dare is taking shape, and it’s sure to set emotions ablaze--more than ever before.
Winston’s “It Girl” Harper Belle isn’t just president of the Deltas--she’s also a master at keeping her ugly past a secret. So, when the Kappas’ dare hits closer to home for her more than anyone realizes, she devises a competition of her own as payback. Three sorority sisters will seek out a notorious womanizer on campus and--unbeknownst their “mark”--secretly train him to be the perfect boyfriend. Always up for a challenge, Harper targets the biggest player she can find: Brax’s wickedly handsome foster brother Kane McCarthy.
But, Harper discovers there’s much more to Kane than girls, games, and partying. His easy smile belies the quiet, old soul reflected in his deep brown eyes. All it takes is one night, one secret laid bare, and one kiss from Kane to shift Harper’s world on its axis. Suddenly, the girl who’s always walked a straight and narrow path can’t think of anything else except losing control.

Interview
When did you realize
that you wanted to become a writer? What was the very first thing you ever
wrote?
After college I started reading for pleasure
again. It’d been a while. As in middle school! Once I discovered romance, I
couldn’t get enough—until I started getting choosey. I LOVE ghost stories, and
there really wasn’t too many ghost/romance stories out there. So I started my first novel—which wasn’t even
a romantic ghost story at all! It was a western romance set in 1800’s Montana,
and the hero was this super hot half Native American hunk that had a blue eye
and a brown eye—which totally fascinated me.
After I wrote that book (and sent it out but got rejected) I started my
next novel. A ghost romance. Which I sent out and was rejected many, many
times. Many times. Although I wrote two more novels, that first ghost romance
was my first sale. SPIRITED AWAY was the first of 5 ghostly romances published
by New American Library. That first book? It’s on a (defunct!) floppy disc, and
also printed in a box in my office. Good times!
Do you read reviews
of your books? What do you do when you read a not-so-nice one?
I do! Because, as I mentioned in a blog post recently, a
writer can learn a LOT from a review. Whether good or not-so-nice. Mostly from
the not-so-nice ones! What do I do when I see one? GASP. Then SWEAR. Then I go
HMMM. Maybe there is something to that. Then, I LEARN. Not always, as there are many not-so-nice
reviews that are just the opinion of the reader, which is I JUST DON’T LIKE IT.
But a lot of the ones that say WHY? Yes, I listen. Never stop learning with your
craft!
How did you come up
with the idea of STUPID BOY?
For the first in my
Stupid in Love series, STUPID GIRL, I was actually on my way home from a Maroon
5 concert with my daughter, daughter-in-law,
and her mother, when my daughter-in-law selected Cassadee Pope’s rendition
of Keith Urban’s STUPID BOY. Something about those lyrics GOT ME. It inspired
not only the title, but the book itself—especially the heroine, Olivia
Beaumont. FYI—if you haven’t attended a Maroon 5 concert DO IT! Adam! EEEK!
What's the one piece
of technology you can't live without?
My TV/DVD. I
watch and rewatch my favorite movies ALL THE TIME. I just had my annual viewing
of THE GOONIES not long ago. And then there’s THE WALKING DEAD. Rick Grimes !! (eyes fluttering)
Who is your literary
hero?
Sherlock Holmes. Well, let me rephrase. Robert
Downey Jr. AS Sherlock Holmes. Lol! Robert Downey Jr. as ANYONE, actually. Dang
I love him! But yes, Sherlock Holmes is sheer genius to me. LOVE! Unless you
were talking about another writer. ?? Then it would be two: Stephen King and
J.K. Rowling. Pure literary genius at its best.
What do you normally
like to read when not writing?
I read a lot of YA and
Middlegrade. And YA Horror. And Stephen King. I’m working on FIENDISH by Brenna
Yovanoff right now. Man, that cover is so AWESOME!
What is your favorite
holiday?
ALL HALLOWS EVE!!!
Describe your main
character in six words.
Kane McCarthy from STUPID BOY:
Powerful. Silent. Perfect Storm. Confident. Intense. Caring.
What are you working
on now?
Book 3 in the Stupid in Love series, STUPID
LOVE.
Can you share a
teaser of STUPID love with our readers?
At 25, Jace
Beaumont has put his wild days behind and is concentrating on finishing
college. He’s determined. Non-no-nonsense. Serious. But when he encounters
life-of-the-party dare-devil, Memory Cates, she takes him for an unexpected
ride and he falls for her. Until he discovers her heart-breaking secret that
even her own father doesn’t know about…
THIS OR THAT?!
Ice cream or Sorbet? Ice cream!
Movies at home or
Movie Theater? Movies at home!
Actual book or
eReader? Definitely an actual BOOK!
Fall or winter? Fall!
