Beckett Taylor is a murderer. His calling, his craft are destruction and intimidation—whether he wants it that way now or not. He left Poughkeepsie to keep his brothers safe, to keep Eve safe. Set up with happy lives to live, they’re better off without him, right?

But all his willpower crumbles when he hears his brother Blake’s frantic voice on the phone. An unknown enemy has moved in on his old territory, and Livia’s been taken. In an instant, Beckett knows it will take an attack only he and Eve can execute to bring her back. All his self-imposed embargoes are torn to shreds, perhaps along with the new man he’s struggled to become.

“Brother, call Eve. I’ll be there soon.”

In this emotional and action-packed sequel to Poughkeepsie, Debra Anastasia conjures a tale of love at its most raw and ragged. With Beckett and Eve, how could we expect anything less? But even when it’s messy, not magical, true love perseveres. Real love finds a way—for better or for worse until death does part.

As I expected, Debra Anastasia, starts off her book with a bang. Granted Beckett was trying to do the right thing and stay on the right side of the law. But anytime Beckett is on page, I can almost feel him itching to grab a gun and regulate things. (He's my Sonny Corinthos) I liked that he was really trying to turn a new leaf and staying out of trouble. He even became a bit of a softie with his newly adopted, ugly mutt. LOL. I liked the Beckett he was working on.

During the beginning of this sequel, you'll see how the brother's lives fell into place. Blake and Livia got married and started working on having their own family. That made made me happy. He struggled a lot in Book 1. You'll also see how Cole and Kyle start their lives together. I'm a happily ever after kinda girl, so I was always rooting for them and crossed my fingers when dilemmas presented itself.

So in Beckett's absence things become a little hectic when someone is trying to take over Poughkeepsie and endangers the lives of his family. A crazy woman with revenge on her mind was working the area and was baiting him out of hideout. Then the ultimate happened. And that's when he can no longer sit around. Eve and his family needed him and he had to take care of them.

Debra introduces you to a bunch of new characters, one of which became a favorite of mine. Which was Officer Ryan Morales. And boy did Debra described him as a hot and yummy cop. I liked his personality a lot. He was spunky, funny and sarcastic. I was actually rooting for him to get the lady he wanted. His presence in this book gave it an extra kick. I definitely would love to see more of him in the next book.

Return to Poughkeepsie will keep you on your toes. I don't know how she comes up with all this action and dilemmas in her head. But I think she should be writing episodes for Law & Order or writing action flixs. There isn't a dull moment in this book. Even when Beckett's behaving, he'll still make you laugh. I truly enjoyed Return to Poughkeepsie. My only complaint was waiting two years for the sequel. I can NOT wait for the next installment. I give Return to Poughkeepsie a 4.5 stars and a definite Good Choice for Reading!

  1. Excellent review! I can only imagine the kooky episodes of Law & Order Debra would come up with, ha ha. I definitely want to read this.

  2. I read this book and loved every page. I was either cringing, laughing, or swearing. It's a fast action thriller and fun to read.
