Review: Braving The Elements by K.F. Breene

Braving the Elements
Title: Braving The Elements
Author: K.F. Breene
Series: Darkness Series book 2
Genre: Paranormal
Expected Publication: March 21, 2014

Sasha has always known she was different, but now she also knows that the shadow men she’s seen all her life, are real. With a life goal of fitting in, Sasha hopes her strange abilities will finally make true friendship a possibility. Unfortunately, her magic doesn’t function like everyone else’s. What she thought would make her belong, sets her apart now more than ever.
Stefan, all but promised to a different woman, has tried to keep his mind on his duties instead of the irresistible and free-spirited human. But when she is threatened, he can’t keep his distance anymore. He realizes he’ll stop at nothing to keep her safe, and more importantly, make her his.
Just when one thing clicks into place, another spirals out of control. Stefan’s clan isn’t the only group that would benefit from an extremely rare type of magic. And their enemies will stop at nothing to get what they want.
Braving the Elements is the second novella in K.F.Breene’s long awaited Darkness series. Sasha’s story is one of discovery, awareness, and understanding, and is jam packed with action, humor, sexual tension, and an overwhelming desire for final acceptance.

"Hey. What-ah, whatchya doin'?" "Oh nothing much. Just crouching here behind this plant in a puddle of urine. I'm naked though, so I dried quick. Spot of luck on that score."---Laugh out loud funny!

This is the second installment in Breene's Darkness series. Now, as I am sure we are all aware, I love K.F Breene. While this series may be different from her other titles, it doesn't seem to matter. Apparently she can write any genre, and throw us a fantastic story. I may, or may not, have heard she's wanting to dip her toes in some fantasy too (fingers crossed). Anyway, back to THIS book.

I loved Braving The Elements. There are a lot of unanswered questions left over from Into The Darkness, that are answered in this book. The colors! What do they mean? Yes, we learn here. We also get a taste of how powerful Sasha really is. Also, what is up with Sasha and Stefan, or Boss, if you prefer? We get a bit of that too, but other than that, I'll never tell. This is only the second installment though, so their story is still being written. There is quite a lot of action in this book, but not nearly as much sex. The scenes we do get though...whew, fan me down! Intense.

Okay, I still love Sasha. She takes a lot of guff in this book, and she takes it like a champ. I'm not sure I could keep my cool the way she did...actually, I know I couldn't. She's still as feisty as ever, and she learns a lot about herself. We get to see a lot more from our big goofy buddy Charles too.  Now, while Sasha is busy taking grief from the other members of the house, poor Charles is taking it from her, plus he's getting it from the Boss too, poor guy. And Stefan, oh Stefan! I fell in love with Stefan in this book. He has a personality, and we get to see it! As the leader in his territory, he has to be strong, the dominant one, and he totally is, but we also get to see him in a different light. And he is so LARGE in stature. I love big men, and at over six and a half feet tall, how could I not find him appealing? We also learn that he can bend a little, at least where Sasha's concerned. I'm still wondering what is going to happen with Darla? Oh, I can only imagine, that chick is something else. I see lots more drama coming in this series. Cannot wait!

The end of this book is wrapped up quite nicely. Of course, in a series, we always have questions, and I do so love to speculate. I loved this book, and I really, really can't wait for book 3.
