"In its purest form love is self-sacrificing, eternal, selfless, enduring, truthful, forgiving and indulgent. It also feels an awful lot like a kick to the stomach when you try to fight it!”
All Everleigh Carsen wanted to do was complete her final semester at Hensley University and begin the life she carefully planned.
When a wave of violent crime seizes campus, Everleigh is persuaded to attend a school sponsored self-defense seminar by her best friend, where she meets volunteer instructor, Hunter Charles. After Everleigh’s biting sarcasm induces Hunter to eject her from class, a tempestuous relationship is born.
Everleigh is determined to forget the striking man, but fate—that fickle shrew—continuously intervenes. Unable to escape him, she declares Hunter an enemy combatant. The only complication…Hunter is resolutely pursuing vindication…by any means necessary. Verbal warfare ensues, and despite Everleigh’s ingenious efforts, in Hunter, she has finally found her equal.
Only For You is a compelling tale of friendship, desire, and redemption—brimming with intelligent characters, witty dialogue, unexpected twists, profound sorrow, unfettered hope, and love’s unassailable perseverance.

I have to say this book caught me by surprise. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I can't even put this review together because of so many thoughts in my head. I was immediately drawn into this book when I opened it. I think she did great for a debut novel. Genna started this book with a scene between Ever (main character) and Sam (Ever's best friend) that made me laugh. I absolutely LOVE their page time together. They get each other and they know how to press each other's buttons. I have to say that I laughed a lot because these two had so much sass and they were so sarcastic. Their personalities were so bright and their friendship was more like sisters.
You first meet Hunter when Sam forces Ever to go to a self defense class. And though Ever was mesmerized by his looks. Hunter wasn't pleased with her at all. In fact, he kicked out Ever out of class because she wasn't taking it serious enough. But that was just the beginning of their budding friendship. You can feel their chemistry and it made me wonder why Ever even questioned it. Hunter was very sweet, caring and loving towards her. The perfect gentlemen. And though I understood her frustration as to why things haven't progressed between the two. I had a strong feeling that there was a valid reason as to why things was taken slow.
Through out the whole story, there were physical attacks on women on campus. That's why Ever and Sam took the self defense class to begin with. So as the attacks became more severe, Hunter became more protective of Ever. And their relationship blossomed. But then the unimaginable happened and everything just went crazy. The intensity was built up so high that even I was holding my breath.
Genna did such a great job with Only For You. I absolutely LOVE the friendship between Sam and Ever. They say you know who your friends are when you really need them. Well in this book, these friends were there for each other always. I also enjoyed Hunter and Ever's chemistry. I knew from the beginning they had to have their happy ending. This book has become one of my favorite for the year. And I can't wait to read the next book called "Pieces For You" which is Sam's story. I give Only For You 5 stars and a definite Good Choice for Reading.
I so like this cover more because it shows Hunter's body more clearly, and it shows the tattoo that has a huge meaning to it! Only thing is, I wish it weren't so dark.
I really enjoyed this book but I do agree with you the second cover is great and definitely more cohesive with the 2nd book!
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds like something that I can get into. Two main characters that are each other's equal. I am all in.
