They hear the most silent of footsteps.
They are faster than anything you've ever seen.
And They won't stop chasing you...until you are dead.

Amy is watching TV when it happens, when the world is attacked by Them. These vile creatures are rapidly devouring mankind. Most of the population is overtaken, but Amy manages to escape—and even rescue “Baby,” a toddler left behind in the chaos. Marooned in Amy’s house, the girls do everything they can to survive—and avoid Them at all costs.

After years of hiding, they are miraculously rescued and taken to New Hope, a colony of survivors living in a former government research compound. While at first the colony seems like a dream with plenty of food, safety, and shelter, New Hope slowly reveals that it is far from ideal. And Amy soon realizes that unless things change, she’ll lose Baby—and much more.

Rebellious, courageous, and tender, this unforgettable duo will have you on the edge of your seat as you tear through the pulse-pounding narrow escapes and horrifying twists of fate in this thrilling debut from author Demitria Lunetta.

Aliens! or so you think…

When I started reading this book I didn't know what to expect, to my surprise I was loving it within the first few pages; the book has a strong first half. Chaos and disaster owns the world and the author does a really good job at creating that world for us. We are soon introduced to our main character and only survivor, Amy. Surviving this apocalypsis is her only goal and hope that there is a better AFTER.

Amy remembers every single detail about the day that THEY came and destroy the world and took away her family. Since then she has been forced to live in a world of darkness, silence and loneliness. In her journey for surviving she finds a toddler girl, “Baby”. She keep wondering how this little girl survived all this mayhem. The two girls develop a relationship stronger that any family bond. Soon Amy realizes that not everything is what it seems and surprise are coming her way.

Our heroine, Amy, is a strong, kick-ass and smart character. She follows her own intuitions and she is very capable of surviving all by herself. Baby, our second character, she is just a toddler when Amy finds her, she doesn't speak or makes any sound but there is something about her that not even Amy knows.

I wanted to love the book and I was on the way until the second half of the book. The story is divided into 3 parts. Part 1 is so good, I was like Oh Yeah! End-of-the-world type of book, apocalypse theme. The world building in this part was perfect, many details and many questions were giving to us. When Part 2 came and there was a MAJOR twist to the plot of the story that will leave you open mouthed, but here is when everything changes. Things get all over the place, too many details are thrown at you to fast and the story turns in a completely different direction.

My final thoughts about the story; the pacing was too fast and things got a little messy in the second half. The flashbacks drove me insane and most of the time I didn't understand what was going on and it was confusing at some points. I enjoyed the story because it was different. I love the characters, Amy and Baby, I love their surviving skills. I would recommend the story to any dystopian/apocalyptic/sci-fi fan out there. Now, are you ready to slash some zombies or aliens?
