“Save You” by Simple Plan Every time I sat down to write a scene from Ben’s POV, this is the song I listened to in order to get me into his head. Before Janelle loved him—even before she knew him at all—Ben has been watching out for her. She saved his life when he was ten, and he’s never forgotten that He wants to be there for her.

“The Other Side” by Bruno Mars feat. Cee Lo Green and B.O.B. I listened a lot to this song, writing the first story. It takes place before Ben and Janelle know each other, and he’s trying to figure out a way to talk to her, to somehow bring their worlds together.

“Wanted” by Hunter Hayes Ben has never felt like things made sense in this world, and with Janelle, suddenly that changes.

“A Drop in the Ocean” by Ron Pope The second short story in Undone is largely about the moment Ben realizes that he’s loves Janelle. I listened to this song while writing it.

“Call Me” by Shinedown I love this song. It’s about saying goodbye despite still being in love, about circumstances pulling people apart. It also has one of my favorite melodies.
