TQOTD - Is City of Lost Souls REALLY the Best Y.A. of 2012?

This week, MTV's Hollywood Crush named the fifth book in Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments series "City of Lost Souls" as the best Y.A. novel of 2012. This was a fan-based poll and "City of Lost Souls" garnered over 24% of the vote!

Thursday's Question of the Day: Do you agree with this decision? What would you name the best Y.A. novel of 2012?

LET ME KNOW!!

  1. I haven't read that series but if I had to pick for YA, it would be "Beautiful Disaster" or "Easy". Now I'm curious and to who would agree with me. I know Damaris won't. LOL

  2. I vehemently disagree abut am not surprised with this result (I'm still a little upset that Insurgent won in two categories at goodreads!) My pick for best YA of 2012 is "Code Name Verity."

  3. I haven't read it, so I definitely cannot judge, but if I was going by the quality of City of Fallen Angels then the answer is a big fat NO.

As for which book would I name the best of 2012... I'm gonna have to go with either Second Chance Summer or The Evolution of Mara Dyer. Both are great reads! Honourable mentions to Unwholly and Poison Princess as well.

Too many books to choose from!

  4. Um no, I don't agree at all. I like that series but that book in particular was meh. In my opinion best YA I read in 2012 is The Awakening of Ren Crown.

  5. I've read COLS and while I thought it was alright, definitely NOT the best YA book of 2012 for me. My best from that list would be either Onyx or Insurgent. My top book is Opal from JLA :)

  6. Honestly, I thought that City of Lost Souls was mediocre. The Mortal Instruments has never been one of my favorite series. The Infernal Devices is so much better, in my opinion. These days, I only continue with The Mortal Instruments for the references to The Infernal Devices.

I admit, City of Lost Souls was a decent read, but there are so many other books worth of the title of best YA Novel of 2012, such as The Fault in Our Stars.
