London 1872 -
A bloody escape, a deadly threat, a shocking revelation...
As an orphan who stole the Queen's ring - only to find the ring was a reservoir that held a truce between the world of Faerie and the British Court - Tiki’s greatest fear suddenly becomes all too real: the fey have returned to London seeking revenge. As war escalates in the Otherworld, Queen Victoria’s youngest son, Prince Leopold, is attacked. In order to protect her family and those she loves, Tiki needs to know the meaning of an fáinne sí, the birthmark that winds around her wrist. But will she be brave enough to face the truth?
The Torn Wing is
book two in Kiki Hamilton’s The Faerie
Ring series. The Faerie Ring was
one of those books that took me by surprise. I really enjoyed it and could not
wait to read The Torn Wing.
Tiki’s life has completely changed and not all for the bad,
but not all good either. In The Torn Wing
we learn a lot about Tiki and her past. You also finally learn a bit more about
her birthmark. Even though I had an idea that this was where the story was
headed, I was truly entertained and curious to see how Hamilton would play it
out.
In this book you also learn a lot more about the faerie
world and exactly what role Tiki and Rieker play in it. You get sucked into a
war and the suspense will have you at the edge of your seat. I didn’t know what
to believe, or if friends were really enemies, enemies really friends. One
thing I loved most is Tiki’s loyalty to her friends. With everything that was
happening in her life and all the changes she was going through, she still made
sure to be there for them.
My only complaint is the slow beginning and Tiki's relationship with Rieker. I am all for relationships that aren’t all mushy and quick, but I
feel their romance is like a car driving five MPH. I would have liked their
relationship to run a little faster. Rieker is a hunk and I love him!
I rate this book 3.5 out of 5 stars.

ReplyDeleteLove reading fey stories. Is there such a thing as a "too slow" romance? Guess I'll have to read the book and find out.
ReplyDeletelisa(at)vetteklisa(dot)com
Hi Lisa! I probably should have been more clear LOL it sort of develops in book one and I thought it would be a lot more in book two, but it's not. It's still moving very slow. :-/ I mean, I guess I don't win though because I hate insta-love, but I hate it when they take FOREVER to finally get together LOL.
Deletewould love to win :)

I have not read either The Faerie Ring or The Torn Wing. However, I am a passionate and avid reader and I love Ya paranormal fiction. I would love the opportunity to win both of these books! I would like to read these books because I would like to learn more about this orphan who stole the faerie queens ring, the faerie queen herself, and the symbolism behind Tiki's birthmark.
