Review: Protecting Truth by Michelle Warren

Title: Protecting Truth
Series: The Seraphina Parrish Trilogy
Author: Michelle Warren
Published: October 6, 2012
Format: Paperback, 314pgs

Seraphina’s keeping a secret from her Wandering team: she’s perfecting her fighting skills. But telling Sam and Bishop the truth would only alert them to her plan: to go back in time, save her mom, and finish what she started. With the help of Turner, Bishop’s handsome twin, she progresses toward her goal but plummets deeper into dangerous territory where the lines of friendship and romance are blurred. One passionate kiss changes everything, leading Sera to unravel a shocking web of family secrets, heartbreaking ulterior motives, and sinister agendas. Love and lies collide in a haunting climax, where the truest souls may not survive.

Sidenote: Protecting Truth is the 2nd book in the Seraphina Parrish Trilogy. To read my review of the first book in the series, Wanderdust, click here.

To this day, I still remember sitting in the kitchen, telling my husband about the premise of Wanderdust, the first book in this series. I tried to explain how there are these characters who time travel (or "wander") by holding onto a relic, running as fast as they can, and then disappearing in a cloud of dust. Yea...he looked at me like I had just wandered somewhere myself!

But I couldn't explain it. There was something about the concept, something about the characters that had me intrigued and fascinated - and it led to a nearly 5 star review.

Protecting Truth is no different. While it was not as exciting as the first book -- meaning, there were not as many action scenes -- Michelle Warren still managed to thrill you in other ways. There was more mystery in this novel; more places that left you guessing; more insight into our main characters. I loved that we find out how our heroine, Sera, is flawed. I adore the fact that she loves and desires something deeper than her love-life.  She is a bit selfish and independent in this book, and it only endears her more!

This novel had me laughing, it had me shaking me (literally tsk-tsking), and wanting to yell "No! Don't do that!" -- all the makings of an awesome novel :)

I would have liked a bit more action, but that's just the kind of girl I am, LOL

4 out of 5 stars!
