Valkyrie-in-training Bryn Halbrook just can't catch a break. With her boyfriend stuck in Hel and the taunting laughter of Loki still ringing in her ears, she struggles to concentrate on her training and duties in Odin's realm. The last thing she expects or wants is more adventure—but then treachery, a shocking abduction and a chilling discovery send her forth on another perilous, globe-hopping mission.

As the ultimate battle, Ragnarok, draws closer, it's a race against time for Bryn, Fenrir and their team to discover who kidnapped her foster brother from the halls of Asgard and what's causing the mysterious deaths of so many of Odin's chosen warriors.

In the exciting sequel to DEAD RADIANCE, Bryn encounters dwarfs and dragons, new friends and old foes—but worst enemy of all may be the person she trusts most!

I was so happy to get this next installment of Bryn's adventure. When the last book ended with a cliffhanger I wanted to scream. This installment focuses of Bryn learning more of her needed skills and attending missions. All the while trying to come up with a way to get her boyfriend out of Hell.

Most of the book is Bryn off on her own doing missions to save others, while trying to learn about herself and her place in Odin's army. I really enjoyed this story and the continuation of series. In this installment Bryn has to learn how to read people and learn that sometimes those closest to us are the ones to betray us the easiest.

I liked the dark twist this book carried as well as the drama. Odin's chosen are dying but why and can the team get the answers before it is too late? Someone close to Bryn is not who they seem, will Bryn figure it out before its too late and she loses her boyfriend forever?  I was forever trying to figure all the mysteries out while reading the story and never came to the answers I got when they were revealed, talk about SHOCKER! I loved it, though, and look forward to the next book in this series to see where life takes Bryn next. Will she save her little brother in time or is it to late?

3.5 out of 5 stars
