What’s Next?
This is the last stop on the Power Release Tour, which has been tons of fun, but it’s time to start thinking about what comes next. I have many plans for travel that include a writing conference in New Orleans in December, a personal vacay in Cancun over the holidays, events in California and possibly Oregon sometime next year, the London Book Fair in April, RT Booklovers Convention in May, maybe the Frankfurt Book Fair in October…and who knows what else might come along. I hope to see as many of you as possible at some of these events – that would be too cool!
Somewhere in there, I have a lot of writing to do. And that’s really what the question “What’s Next?” is all about. What do I write next?
Of course, the Soul Savers Series isn’t over (3 more books to go), and fans have already been asking when the next book comes out. That would be Spring 2013, by the way. I’m thinking May or June, although I haven’t started it yet, so I can’t be sure. Then there are side stories I’d like to work on, too.
Besides the Soul Savers Series, though, I have some other Super Sekrit Projects I’ve started and would love to be able to work on. I’m really excited about both of them. They’re both New Adult and one is paranormal/contemporary fantasy like the Soul Savers and the other is more post-apocalyptic/sci-fi. I started both earlier this year but they were back-burned for Power.
The immediate What’s Next is NaNoWriMo, which I’ll be doing this year for the first time. If you’re unfamiliar with it, it’s National Novel Writing Month, held in November, where writers across the country (actually, throughout the world) write a novel in one month. The goal is 50,000 words, which may or may not be a full novel (definitely not for me!). The timing has never worked for me before and I still hate that it’s the same month as Thanksgiving and the launch of the holiday season, but I want to give it a go. If anything, I’ll be able to cross it off my bucket list.
What will I write in November, though? That’s what’s killing me. I seriously don’t know. There are too many worlds and characters in this brain of mine. I suspect that whichever character starts yelling the loudest in my head will get the attention. Sound weird? Well, that’s the life of a writer – listening to the voices in our heads and trying to make them happy.
So will Soul Savers Book 5 be my next release? Possibly. But who knows – I may pull out a big surprise for my readers and give them something completely new first. I guess we’ll all have to see what November and the rest of the year bring. Either way, it will be exciting!
Thank you to everyone who has participated in the tour, both tour-stop hosts and readers! I’m looking forward to seeing you again with whatever book happens to be next.
