All will be revealed for fans who have breathlessly awaited the sizzling sequel to Juliet Immortal. This time Romeo takes center stage and gets one chance, and one chance only, to redeem himself.

Cursed to live out eternity in his rotted corpse, Romeo, known for his ruthless, cutthroat ways, is given the chance to redeem himself by traveling back in time to save the life of Ariel Dragland. Unbeknownst to her, Ariel is important to both the evil Mercenaries and the love-promoting Ambassadors and holds the fate of the world in her hands. Romeo must win her heart and make her believe in love, turning her away from her darker potential before his work is discovered by the Mercenaries. While his seduction begins as yet another lie, it soon becomes his only truth. Romeo vows to protect Ariel from harm, and do whatever it takes to win her heart and soul. But when Ariel is led to believe his love is a deception, she becomes vulnerable to Mercenary manipulation, and her own inner darkness may ultimately rip them apart.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of Juliet Immortal, but I loved the idea behind it and I wanted to read Romeo’s side of the story more than I cared for Juliet’s. So I was happy to get a chance to read the sequel, and hoped that a lot of the confusing aspects in the first installment would be explained this time around.

They were not. I was lost most of the time when it came to the alternate universes and different time periods and how all of that works.  It’s never fully explained. Maybe we’re just supposed to buy it, accept it for what it is, but I am not capable of that. I need things explained, or they just aren’t believable to me. Neither book in this series explains anything. It just doesn’t even make sense to me.

I did enjoy Romeo’s character. He’s a tad twisted, as I was hoping for, though I didn’t necessarily find him swoon-worthy. I liked him in a sadistic way, and wouldn’t find him a good suite for a love interest. Unless of course, as is the case, the female involved is Ariel. She’s a bit on the psychotic side and I wasn’t a fan of her character. The romance was relatively enjoyable, but there were times when Ariel ruined that for me.
I’m no more a fan of the ending of this one than I was of Juliet Immortal. They have unhappy happy endings, and it frustrates me.

Did I dislike Romeo Redeemed? Not at all. I enjoyed reading it, but I think it had a lot of potential that it didn’t live up to.

3/5 Stars

  2. I like the idea behind this series too, but already I am skeptical based on some of the reviews I've seen. Still going to give it a shot though.

  3. Thanks for the review. Juliet Immortal has been on my TBR list for a long time and I find that I definitely have to be in the mood for something that flips back and forth between time periods or universes. I'll keep that in mind the next time I pick up this series.

  4. When I read Juliet Immortal I wasn't confused by the time changes or worlds. I thought it was pretty straight forward. I enjoyed that book so I am really looking forward to reading Romeo Redeemed.
