TQOTD - Comic Book Celebrities?

Katy Perry, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Kristin Stewart, Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Taylor Lautner.....

You name them, and I can guarantee there's a comic book with their face all over it. To me, it's so frustrating!! Whatever happened to the good ol' days of Superman and Archie??

Thursday's Question of the Day: What Do You Think About Celebrity Comic Books?

LET ME KNOW!!

  1. I haven't read a comic since I was little and I really didn't know about this trend. I guess if I did read comics or graphic novels I would read within my genre and not pay attention to the ones like this. I do think it's kind of odd, but I guess the more they can build on a brand name, the better.

  2. I wasn't even aware that there were celebrity comic books. I wonder what story these comic books tell. Are they just little biographies? Or a day in the life? Or are they fictionalized-- Super Selena anyone? I get how these might be popular with tweens who adore these pop stars. But, I can't help but feel it devalues all the hard work and creativity that gets put into other comic books from super hero to Japanese graphic novels to good ol' Archie comics. Celebrity comic books just seem like they would be mass produced garbage.

  3. I have never read a celebrity comic book because to me they seem a little silly. They're not even really comic books, just illustrated autobiographies. Probably a good way for them to make more money from their younger fans. I doubt I would ever read one. I'd rather to stick to normal comics with Batman and graphic novels.
