On leave for Thanksgiving, the last thing marine lieutenant Talia Barnett expects to find is Liam Brodie waiting for her at the airport. He's had a starring role in her fantasies for the past two years, and although she'd love to make them a reality, she has a dark secret that prevents her from taking things further.

A former marine, Liam's specialty is planning tactical operations, and that's just what he plans to do to win Talia. The woman has kept him at arm's length for too long, and this time he's finally going to claim her—body and heart.

What begins as comfort quickly turns hot. When Liam shows Talia a hint of the dominant nature inside him, the submissive part of her flares to life. Though she desires him, she's going back on deployment and doesn't want to dump all her drama on him. Will he find a way to break through the protective walls around her heart and convince her they have a future that goes far beyond the bedroom?

I really liked this story. It was really relate able and realistic. This story was really about accepting where you come from and not always shutting the world out just to protect yourself. People should like you for you not your upbringing.

Talia has a bad past and is afraid to let anyone see into it. Always afraid her friends would judge her or worse not be there for her, she has never let them meet her mom or see where she grew up. When she comes home for Thanksgiving on leave she expects to spend some quiet time alone, but gets a big surprise when Liam and his sister are there to meet her at the airport. Talia soon realizes this time will be like no other leave before.

Liam has wanted Talia for years and she would never let him get close. Determined this time make Talia see how good it can be between them, Liam does everything he can to be there for Talia. He drives her places and just spends time with her. Even trying to get her to go see her mom and patch up the past.

When Talia finally agrees to go see her mom and lets Liam drive her there all of Talia secrets come out. Fearing she will lose Liam and his family who she has been so close with Talia freaks out, but Liam stays by her side even offering to help in any way. He even agrees to never tell anyone about Talia’s past.

Over time and though helping Talia and her mom, Talia realizes that Liam really does care for her and just maybe she can be happy someday, but can their love survive once she heads back out on duty?

3.5 out of 5 stars
