Hey GCReaders!
On Sunday, April 15th, Maria, Wanda and I attended the Spring into the Future event at Books of Wonder in New York City, which featured authors Veronica Rossi, Anna Carey, Tahereh Mafi, and special guest Lauren Oliver.
They answered some questions for everyone and signed lots of books. After the signing, they hung out a bit and sat down with us while we filmed a small interview to share with you all. Unfortunately, Lauren Oliver wasn't able to stay for the video interview. However, we did manage to snag a signed copy of Pandemonium. :-)
We had a great time! Anna, Veronica and Tahereh are super, super nice and they are hilarious! They would make a great team if they got together and wrote a book.

I loved the interview! I think it's really nice of them to do a side interview with you girls, it felt really cozy and informative. I liked the questions you girls asked too! I've never been to a book tour or stop before and it seems like these ladies got along really well, and that makes the experience for you and for us watching this interview that much more enjoyable. :)

Video interviews are always best. I just like to see how the authors express themselves verbally; it kind of brings out a different facet of them, since we all only know them from their books, twitter and occasional blog posts.
ReplyDeleteI loved the video! That is so awesome that you guys got to sit down & do a real live interview with them! I liked the questions too (like how they came about writing a dystopian)! It's cool to see a little bit more of their personality in live interviews vs. written. It would be pretty sweet if you guys did get to do these more often!

On the one hand, it's really cool to get to see bloggers and authors in person chatting. It's way better than just reading the answers, because you can get an even better sense of people's personality.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, I can't watch them at work, so I might just forget to do it, you know? I can always read something!
The video was pretty awesome! I love live interviews and I actually prefer video interviews than reading them because it's more visual (obviously :)) The only downside is that I read blog posts while I'm in class but I can't put in earphones during class to watch the videos. But they're still awesome :)

I loved the responses by all three authors when asked to describe their books in six words. Tahereh Mafi's (and now I know how to pronounce her name) platform boots are pretty awesome! ReplyDeleteThe idea of the video is cute. And I realize it was three authors at one time but 14 min is a big chunk of time in one sitting. I wouldn't mind it in 5 min intervals. I did enjoy it though I had sometimes had to listen closely to block out the backround noise. thanks for the awesome giveaway!! I don't mean to be rude or disrespectful just answering your question. I hate posting anything negative.
ReplyDeleteI really liked the video interview. To be able to have 3 authors on at one time is a tremendous coup. There is so much information to pass along and still it never gets boring.

I love the video interview. It makes you as bloggers, and the authors seem more like people than pictures found on blogs and books. I love actually hearing what you all sound like, and it makes the interview more personable, and makes me feel like I'm there with you and the author(s). ReplyDeleteI loved the video interview, its great for people who don't get a chance to go to signing and events like this. Many times these tours only go to big cities and only in select few stays so its hard for me to go to author events! Thanks for the opportunity it was like I was there!

Oh my goodness, how did you sit there so calmly and not totally fangirl out LOL Thank you for the wonderful interview. I loved it and can say as much as I have wanted to read these books, I now want this so much more; of course they are on the wishlist, but I would certainly love to win copies. I really enjoyed the interview and I am struggling with whether I appreciate the written interviews more or if actually seeing the reactions and spontaneity of the authors response made it sweeter. It was a little long (but that is just because I stopped by to visit for a moment and got involved I think) however, there were three wonderful authors to share with us. Thank you for sharing the joy!

I really did enjoy the video post. Honestly. And I think that a lot of other people probably have and will enjoy it. Personally, even though I liked it, I honestly don't have a lot of time to watch the videos. I can read a post so much faster and zoom on to the next thing. But if I do have time, I think I will enjoy sitting down for a few videos. Makes things more personal! Thanks so much for the giveaway!

Yes it's such a great idea! Do more of these interviews. It's so nice since many of us can't always make it to these events.
ReplyDeletePs: It was hard to hear the answers at times though because of the background noise, so maybe pick somewhere quieter to do the interview.
