When Wendy Everly was six-years-old, her mother was convinced she was a monster and tried to kill her. It isn't until eleven years later that Wendy discovers her mother might have been right. With the help of Finn Holmes, Wendy finds herself in a world she never knew existed - a world both beautiful and frightening, and Wendy's not sure she wants to be a part of it.
I didn’t know what to expect when I picked up Switched. I heard so many great things about Amanda Hocking and her books, that I honestly have no clue why I haven’t read any of her books sooner.
When I got asked to review Switched, I jumped at the chance. I figured this was my chance to finally read and see what all the fuss was about. Well now I know exactly what the fuss is ALL about. I loved Switched! I mean there were some parts that I found the story to go up and down, but then once everything kicked off, I just couldn’t put it down. It has a very sad opening, okay beginning and awesome middle to end. I stayed up until about 3 am reading. I was lost inside Wendy’s world. I have to say that I was really taken by surprise when the truth about Wendy and her family comes out. I really didn’t think that’s what the story was all about. It was a great change for me. There is a little romance in it, but it’s not instantly and develops at a nice pace.
I am so happy I got the chance to read Switched by Amanda Hocking. I can see why her books are so popular. She has a way keeping you glued to the pages and wanting more when you’re done. I cannot wait to read the second book in the series and find out what happens to Wendy, and where her relationship with a certain special boy goes.
4 out 5 stars!

I've been really curious about this one as well as Amanda Hocking's books in general (since I've never read any of them either) so I'm happy to hear it's good. I especially love when books are surprising and have slow paced romance so I'm probably going to check this one out for sure now. Great review! :)
ReplyDeletebeen curious aswell

I wasn't really a fan of this book. Gave it a 3. I really couldn't understand the huge appeal for this before the print version was available. I didn't find the characters likeable. Probably just me though :)
ReplyDeleteGreat review. I have Amanda's original ebooks but I've been wary about reading them because I've heard mixed reviews but now I'm very tempted to buy the newly refurbished version :)

I really love this cover. I'm sad I missed it on Netgalley. It interests me that you said you were surprised by the truth about her family, because I LOVE twists, as long as there is a build up and they are done right.
