Review: Original Sin by Lisa Desrochers

Original Sin by Lisa Desrochers

Paperback, 398 pages
Published July 5th 2011 by Tor Teen
Luc Cain was born and raised in Hell, but he isn’t feeling as demonic as usual lately—thanks to Frannie Cavanaugh and the unique power she never realized she had. But you can’t desert Hell without consequences, and suddenly Frannie and Luc find themselves targeted by the same demons who used to be Luc’s allies.

Left with few options, Frannie and Luc accept the protection of Heaven and one of its most powerful angels, Gabe. Unfortunately, Luc isn’t the only one affected by Frannie, and it isn’t long before Gabe realizes that being around her is too…tempting. Rather than risk losing his wings, he leaves Frannie and Luc under the protection of her recently-acquired guardian angel.

Which would be fine, but Gabe is barely out the door before an assortment of demons appears—and they’re not leaving without dragging Luc back to Hell with them. Hell won’t give up and Heaven won’t give in. Frannie’s guardian exercises all the power he has to keep them away, but the demons are willing to hurt anyone close to Frannie in order to get what they want. It will take everything she has and then some to stay out of Hell’s grasp.

And not everyone will get out of it alive.

I cannot write this review without saying WOW about five hundred times. WOW! Original Sin was just...WOW! If you thought Personal Demons was good, just wait until you get your hands on Original Sin. It's definitely for a much more mature audience. I would say for readers ages sixteen and up.

I kept reading reviews where everyone basically said how "hot and steamy" this book is. They are not WRONG! I was actually shocked at how "HOT and STEAMY" Original Sin is. I loved it! Every single thing about it! I loved how it was from Frannie, Luc, and Matt's point of view. It was so nice getting inside their heads. I am so TEAM Luc! I love everything about him.

There is nothing this book lacked. It gave me every single emotion I look for when reading a book. It was sad, funny, suspenseful, shocking...everything! I read Original Sin in one sitting. I could not put it down. And when I did put it down, all I did was think about it. I am still thinking about it and it's days later.

The only issue I had was the love triangle. I wasn't a huge fan of the love triangle in Personal Demons, and I wasn't a fan of it in Original Sin. Though I will say that Desrochers didn't focus as much on the love triangle in Original Sin as she did in Personal Demons. So it was a bit bearable this time. I felt that Frannie was punishing Luc for something she was practically doing too. You have to read the book to know what I am talking about. But their relationship is just so heart breaking and heart warming at the same time. Love it!

I am so sad I have to wait til next year to find out what's next! This book is just WOW! One big ball of EVERYTHING! If you haven't read Personal Demons, I recommend you do. Then buy Original Sin and come back here and let's talk sexy demons! This series is A MUST READ!

5 out of 5 Stars!

  1. I'm still waiting for the ARC I won to arrive. What a great series.

  2. Great review! I have to agree that, for me, love triangles make a character a bit less relatable to me. Maybe I should check this series out. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  3. OMG this book was already on my book list but you just made me wnat it even more :)

  4. Thanks for the review. I had not read this series but I will be adding it to my TBR pile.

  5. I love this series! Definitely pick it up!

  6. I keep hearing great things about this book - got to check the series out!

  7. I've not get to read book one yet, but this is a great reminder that I need to take up this series :). Ty for sharing your review!

  8. Great review. I like this series more than I expected to, and I completely agree with you on the love triangle...it got even weirder in OS. And I was mad at myself for the first half of the book because I'd read all the teasers the author posted on her blog, so I already had a good idea what was going to happen. Won't be doing that again. :(
