Well Good luck!!!
A good love story needs to have some great loss, something that just about breaks the main characters. Followed by an epic success and surrender :)

What makes a good love story... it needs a great couple. One that's totally into each other, they're compatible, they laugh at each others jokes, they have each others backs. He's got to be strong and capable of taking care of her, but not afraid to let her take care of herself. She can't be all wimpy. She's got to continue to charm him even after they're a couple. And most of all they have to communicate, be spontaneous and adventurous. Christy Morris what.are.ya.readin @ gmail . com

ReplyDeleteA good love story always needs to have a challenge. I have trouble when a relationship evolves in a few chapters and, voila, their together. Real love requires a fight. Not necessarily a physical fight, but it has to be tough. Or its just unfulfilling.

What makes a good love story?
ReplyDeleteA male character that doesn't just make the main female character swoon, but the readers as well. There needs to be something that is attempting to keep them apart, but by working together & persevering they can overcome it...its the journey, trials, & tribulations that make a love story "realistic" to the readers. No one ever said love was easy. :)

I believe what makes a good love story is drama. i know we hate it in our own lives, but i cant stop reading it. the torment, the complications, struggles, love triangles, you name it. I liked to end up crying, laughing, smiling, and even at times yelling at the characters as if they could hear me =) i.e. KISS HER ALREADY!! lol

A good love story needs good tension between the boy and girl - it doesn't have to be sexual, just the fact that they need to be together and not in a codependent way but a healthy way. I just like tension. It adds so much to the story.

Thanks for the giveaway. I would say a great love story to me is one that is believable, one where the couple isn't in love at first sight. The instant love, especially in YA is bugging me lately. The characters should take a little time to actually learn about each other before they proclaim love.

ReplyDeleteWhat makes a good love story to me is when the characters have a mountain of problems to overcome and they do so together. The emotional intensity of the characters will make them memorable and more believable as well. I also really like it when the lead characters aren't perfect.

A good love story must have passion, fire, and characters that will not regret their actions and follow through on their love. Too much hesitation kills it for me. The characters should have strong traits such as determination/conviction.

THE HOST BY STEPHENIE MEYER. THAT WAS A "WOW" LOVE STORY. Wanda falls in love with Jared, but then falls in love with Ian. Mel is in love with Jared but feels 'attached' to Ian after seeing him through Wanda's eyes. COME ON. That's a GOOD love story. Sometimes, problematic experiences are what make a love story interesting. For example, trying to survive from hunger and thirst...it's a serious matter and when your good-looking hero saves you, everything is passionate and intense. Sometimes, even a bit of corny sayings can lighten the atmosphere up, but not too much since everything needs a balance (too much kissing, too much I-love-to-stare-into-your-sexy-eyes-and-at-your-luscious-lips). Yeah, I think that's what makes a lovely, wonderful love story. (:

A good love story has a memorable, endearing hero and heroine to start with. There is friction between them at the beginning and slowly through the story they develope a unfathomable love for each other that makes each other willing to even give their life for the other. In the end, this sacrifice is definitely evident if not given but in the end love prevails and brings the hero and heroine through it all to their happily ever after. Much deserved and still in mind long after the final word is read in the book.

For me a good love story needs arguments, friction, and drama. They can't just be insta-love and everything be all lovey-dovey from that point. In a good romance the characters have to work for the love. There needs to be something that holds them apart that they have to work their way through.

What makes a good love story is a couple who gets together and sticks together through thick and thin. I get sick of the stupid ups and downs sometimes. Don't break up and get back together. Kinda tired of love triangles too. Just a strong unflinching romance. I don't mind if they fight the attraction for whatever reason for a while but it gets old. First of all, AMAZING giveaways! Always love these! I can't help but be an obsessed book reader! You can never have too many books to crave for. ;) And good luck to everyone and congrats to the winner(s)! :)
ReplyDeleteA good love story... it definitely needs passion, angst, lies, secrets, etc. It seems strange someone would say that, but that's the one "wow!" factor that gets everybody. The love between two people turns into something you wouldn't expect. It should be surprising, but in a way that no one would anticipate it. And I don't think it should ALWAYS be about the two main lovers or the classic/tragic love triangle, but as they think of the other people they love and how much they want to protect them. I love books like that.

I think that a good story needs love. I think that a good relationship needs arguments, tension, and an open mind. I don't think that falling in love too quickly and then, once you have confessed your love, you revolve your entire world and your every being to that one person and them alone. I love epic, awe-inspiring romances, but if the heroine falls in love right when they meet their lover and everything is lovey dovey and perfect, isn't what I like to read about. I like to read about love stories and romances when the romance is not like the movies. I think, along with the tension and arguments, a stellar romance needs passion, intensity, desire, hunger, willingness, a big heart, acceptance, and love, love, and more love. When I finish a book and close the cover, I often say 'WOW' if the romance is passionate and the lovers are absolutely willing to do whatever it takes to save the other, the action/adventure was plentiful, and most importantly: I escaped. I read for the escape and an ultimate romance, such as the one displayed in Fallen between Luce and Daniel.

It needs to have some aspect of believability. Which then leads to the WOW factor. If the writing and story and characters arent there, neither will the WOW.
