*~Poetry To Live By~*

For the second poem I chose 'She Walks in Beauty' by Lord Byron. When I read this poem one word comes to mind,enchanting. Lord Byron describes the woman he loves in such a way that I just get chills. I'm sure there isn't a girl out there that wouldn't swoon if a guy wrote her a poem like this.

Lord Byron, or George Gordon Byron was a British poet who lived from 1788 to 1824 and during his life became well known as a romantic. He wrote several other great love poems and his name is synonymous with poetry still to this day. Each word he wrote seemed to drip with emotion...if you ask me, men today should take a hint from Lord Byron!

She Walks in Beauty

She walks in beauty, like the night
of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
which heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less,
had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
how pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,
so soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
but tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
a heart whose love is innocent!

-Lord Byron
