THURSDAY'S QUESTION OF THE DAY
One of my favorite things to say is "you should never judge a book by its cover". Well, sure, that works great if you're talking about people - but how about when you're talking about books? If you're in the bookstore, how important is the cover to you when picking up a book? Now, to be fair, I have actually read some pretty great books with some pretty boring covers, lol.
So I actually have a two-part question for all you GoodChoiceReaders: does the cover matter to you when deciding to read a book? And, what is your favorite cover of all time?
LET US KNOW!!!!

As for me, the cover actually doesn't matter too much. I will pretty much read anything that I've been recommended or have heard good things about. When I'm in the bookstore though, the cover is definitely the first thing that draws me in.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite cover of all time is on the Eragon book. Actually, all three of them. I love the way the covers are just so simple, and beautiful.
Unfortunately, yes, I do judge books by their cover... but can you blame me? When you're in a bookstore surrounded by numerous books, which one are you gonna pick up to read the back cover? One that catches your eye, of course!
ReplyDeleteThat being said, the little blurb on the back/jacket is what matters most to me.. I'm just more likely to skip over a "hidden gem" in the bookstore if the cover is super boring.
I definitely judge books by their covers. I HAVE read some amazing books with bad covers though. The opposite can be very true as well. I really like the covers from the Fallen series, but don't enjoy the books all that much!

Ha! I am the queen of judging a book by its cover. I am always pulled by the cover. I cannot even begin to tell you how many books I put back because the cover did not pull me in. Guilty! lol
