We're given a long cover art form to fill out and on that we explain to the cover artist our vision for the cover, summerize the story, describe the characters, provide links to pictures and models we like, and other book covers we think have a similar look or feel that we want.

For my books that I've released on my own, I do my own covers, so that is only limited to my Photoshop skills. Nice & Naughty is one of my out of print backlist so I re-released that on my own and did the cover myself.

As for the story ideas--for Nice & Naughty my editor at the time said "I'd love to have a book about firemen who play Santa Claus around town" and viola--I wrote it LOL. For the other stories, in particular my military and cowboy books, a lot of the story ideas come from my real life consultants in the military or rodeo worlds.

THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by to comment!!!
CatAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08983277401437222497noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7158531286462009257.post-32344677819993254382011-11-21T22:36:24.734-05:002011-11-21T22:36:24.734-05:00Thank you for the great post and the giveaway. I always thought that anyone who wants to own a business should work at every single one of the jobs of the people he employs. I don't care if he's the suit-wearing owner of a restaurant and the job is dishwasher, because you can't make intelligent decisions unless you have the experience of everything and everyone involved.

Thanks for the comment!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08983277401437222497noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7158531286462009257.post-62283248297781466512011-11-21T17:27:12.893-05:002011-11-21T17:27:12.893-05:00You could tell that you had experience working on ...You could tell that you had experience working on a farm. I've also had that same job (since I was 12)- it may be shitty but it teaches you some valuable life lesson like self-discipline and responsibility. Working on the farm has now become me working on my own farm for my own horses. It doesn't matter if you don't feel like mucking or cleaning hooves, you know that the horses rely on you so you suck it up and soldier on.
Through college I worked on the farm, groomed dogs, worked at Victoria's Secret, a go kart track, and a hunting/fishing/camping store. I do believe that all of those jobs contributed to the person that I am today.

mconnolley@yahoo.comMeagan Bnoreply@blogger.com
