Practice Makes Perfect.

Everyone at Hundred Oaks High knows that career mentoring day is a joke. So when Maya Henry said she wanted to be a rock star, she never imagined she’d get to shadow *the* Jesse Scott, Nashville’s teen idol.

But spending the day with Jesse is far from a dream come true. He’s as gorgeous as his music, but seeing all that he’s accomplished is just a reminder of everything Maya’s lost: her trust, her boyfriend, their band, and any chance to play the music she craves. Not to mention that Jesse’s pushy and opinionated. He made it on his own, and he thinks Maya’s playing back up to other people’s dreams. Does she have what it takes to follow her heart—and go solo?

One thing I love most about reading Miranda Kenneally's books is that her writing style is very easy to follow, and before you know it you are done reading the entire book in just a couple of hours. That is exactly what happened to me with JESSE'S GIRL. I sat down and read the first chapter and pretty much zoomed through the rest of the book.

JESSE'S GIRL is not my favorite out of Miranda's books, but it's definitely in my top three. The characters are so likeable that you can’t help but feel some kind of attachment to them from page one. I loved Maya and her reaction to some of Jesse’s shenanigans. Jesse was a broken artist. He loved his music, but had so many trust issues you just had to feel sorry for him. Even with all his trust issues, one of the things I loved best about him was that he wasn’t afraid to share his insecurities. He was pretty much open about everything from the very beginning. If Maya asked, he answered. I enjoyed their relationship a lot.

I loved that Sam and Jordan make a little appearance in JESSE’S GIRL and we get an update on them. A happy one!

Overall, JESSE’S GIRL was funny, romantic, and filled with lots of family drama. If you are looking for a quick summer read definitely pick this one up! It will fill your reading urge and leave you wanting more.

  2. The only Miranda Kenneally book I've read is Catching Jordan but I really enjoyed it and like the sound of Jesse's Girl :) From your review I think I'd really like Jesse – I love characters who don't hide their feelings and insecurities. Great review!

  3. I really want to read this. I heard that the family support plays a significant part, which is rare. Does this series have to be read in order. I have not read any of them yet.

  4. I don't think you have to read it in order. Each book is pretty much its own story. And yes, the parents are a huge part in this book. Very supportive! I forgot to mention that in my review :( good thing you pointed it out. Ty! :)

  5. Great review! This one was definitely my least favorite in this series but the series is so good that it was still a great book! It was definitely fun to catch up with Sam and Jordan!
