Chloe hasn't had the best life. With a mother who is gone more often than not, she has had to raise herself. After graduating high school, she leaves to start a new life away at West Virginia University with her best friends Amber and Logan, determined to leave her demons in the past.

On her first day, she meets a stranger who takes her breath away at first sight. Until she met Drake, no one had ever sparked her interest. Now this tattooed and pierced bad boy is all she can think about, no matter how hard she fights it.

Falling for Drake was never part of her plans, but when it happens, things seem to do anything but fall into place.

Dealing with a tragic past, Drake has never cared about anyone else but himself and his band. But when Chloe takes the empty seat next to him in class, things start to change. Instantly drawn to her, he begins to wonder if one girl can take a cold hearted womanizer and change every part of him?

Long hidden feelings are revealed and friendships tested to the brink.

Even though its getting a bit old, "the whole good girl falling for a tattooed bad boy", I did still enjoyed this New Adult novel. But honestly, if you've read one you've read them all. And it's sad because even though some stories are good, its gets a little tiring.

I liked some of the characters in this novel. I really liked Drake. I like his cocky attitude. Normally I don't like guys with huge egos. But the author wrote him well. Chloe on the other hand, I wasn't crazy about. She had her head all over the place. And as much as I wanted to like her, I didn't. She was immature and just blah in my opinion and did things knowing others would be hurt. So she's my least favorite character. Her best friend was funny and I would love to read a book about her. Logan her other "best friend" fell a little short for me. He came off as a weak character. He let Chloe walk all over him. I feel he needed to man up.

Now even if I didn't like Chloe I did still want things to fall in her favor. But only because I wanted Drake to be happy. Despite the fact that he was a man-whore, he was a character with potential and I wanted him to be happy and successful. And he did change his ways when he started having feelings for Chloe. And their chemistry was good. I love the sarcasm between the two. Made the whole cliche worth while.

I liked this book. Did I love it? No. Will I continue the series? Yes. Because I believe Chloe & Drake will grow and mature. I think this book will be a fast and easy read for those that's looking for a New Adult novel. If you're looking for a book with a sexy, tattooed bad boy then give this one try. Torn gets a 3.5 stars from me.

  1. I've had this one on my TBR forever but recently there was a revelation about something that occurs in this one that would really annoy me about the heroine. You probably know what I'm referring to :(
So I've decided to pass on it. Great Review!

    1. I read book 2 and I have to say she did somehow redeemed herself. I'll be writing a review for that one soon. So come back to check it out soon.

  2. It sounds like an interesting read. I myself am not a huge fan of many new adult books because I feel that they so often are only about the good girl falling for the bad boy. Its the same book over and over again with details changed.
While this book does sound good and I really liked your honest review i doubt it is a new adult book I will be reading anytime soon.

    1. They're almost all the same. Some have details that stand out. The second book was good. I definitely am going to finished the series.
