I'm not sure where to start honestly. I read quite a lot of reviews for this book, I actually purchased, and began reading it before I even read the synopsis. That was my mistake. I had issues from the beginning, after the first few pages. First, Stephanie meets some random guy at a pizzeria and he asks her about her phone, he's looking to upgrade he says. She lets this random stranger handle her phone, she is a lawyer mind you. Then, she gets a text message from a strange number and guess who it is? Right, random stranger, Derrick. At first she's angry at his audacity, then, she gets into dirty texting with him and basically masturbates in her office while he tells her what to do. Issue number one, she's a married woman. Issue number two, she is sexting with a guy she literally just met an hour before, who basically snuck himself her number. Can you say creepy? Yeah, because that's not a red flag at all right.

After one night with Derrick, Stephanie backs off. She really does love her husband, and wants to try to make things work with him. But, apparently poor little Jacob (husband) can't seem to give Stephanie what she needs in the bedroom area. Okay, I know that a lot of us like to believe that our men CAN actually read our minds, but they can't. So, instead of Stephanie actually sitting Jacob down and telling him exactly what she needs from him, she starts up an affair with crazy Derrick. But, before Derrick will take her back, she has to be “punished.” So, basically, Stephanie is so desperate for this mans attention and so eager to please, that she willingly accepts physical abuse, among other things which I will not get into. Seriously? It was disgusting.

Stephanie is completely selfish and self absorbed. She literally takes responsibility for nothing. Everything is someone else's fault. Her affair was Jacob's fault because he wasn't a mind reader. Her life being turned upside down was Derrick's fault, because apparently 29 year old women can't think for themselves. Take some freaking responsibility lady, geez! Then, the ending, OMG the ending! Completely bizarre, and miles away from realistic. I get it, it's a book, not real. Right, but at least make it believable. I read some great reviews for The Suicide Princess, I was looking forward to a “hot” “sexy” “thrill ride,” but those were not my feelings at all. Disturbed, disgusted, and baffled, those are the words I would use to describe my feelings about the book. Personally, I don't think I could comfortably recommend this book to anyone, but if you like a twisted story, be my guest.
