Can love save them?

After her father commits a crime that shatters her family, eighteen-year-old Delaney Cross is tired of pretending everything is all right. Packing up her car, she sets out to find the people her father hurt. Her search leads her to places she’s never been—and into the arms of Adrian Westfall.

To the outside world, Adrian is a sexy, charming ladies’ man. But his playboy persona is just an act. Secretly his soul is tortured by a memory too painful to share. Only Delaney seems to see through his façade to the real man underneath. And for the first time in his life, Adrian feels he can begin to open up about his past.

Together, Adrian and Delaney share a passionate love they never expected to find. Yet both still harbor their own secrets. When the dark truth is finally revealed, will it bring them closer together—or tear them apart forever?

Nyrae Dawn is a newbie author for me. I haven’t read any of her books before FAÇADE, but I've seen and read great things about her writing. I am happy I decided picked this one up. I enjoyed this one so much I picked up another one of her books, Charade, which apparently is the first to this series.

I wasn't prepared for the emotional ride that Façade is. Adrian has a dark secret and a lot of pain he holds inside. In the beginning of the story I wasn't sure what was really going on and just how hurt Adrian really is. He hides his pain with parties, booze and everything else you can think of. Anything that takes his mind off the past he welcomed with open arms.

Of course the story takes that turn where, here comes the hot girl and all of a sudden his attention is elsewhere. There is just something about that girl that he feels he needs to get to know her. Moving on from the obvious, you meet Delaney; who also has a dark secret of her own. She moved into the area with an agenda. What Delaney didn't expect is that the very person she was searching for has been pursuing her.

Their lives are connected in more than one way and for more than half the book only Delaney knows this. I was literally at work reading Façade on my iPhone because I just couldn't stop reading. It did take me about five chapters to really get into the story, but once I did I was waiting for it all to hit the fan. I turned every page with butterflies in my stomach waiting for the truth to be revealed. Once everything came out into the open my heart broke. I was also taken by surprise by some of the turn of events. Everything I had predicted was so wrong.

I especially loved the romance between Adrian and Delaney. It had the right amount of tension, and played out perfectly from their first meeting until the very end.

Another thing I want to mention is that while reading Façade, I was introduced to Cheyenne and Colt from Charade. I had no idea who they were until I read Charade. In Façade, I didn’t really care too much for them. But after reading Charade I appreciated them a lot more and looked at Façade differently. You don’t really have to read Charade in order to read Façade, but for me, I enjoyed Façade a lot more than Charade. My rating went up a little after reading book one. I look forward to the next book in Nyrae Dawn’s GAMES series, Masquerade.

  1. I loved both of these books! I liked Adrian from the get go in Charade. I love the gloomy mysterious characters!
