TQOTD - What is your favorite quote from a book?

Thursday’s Question of the Day is back and I’m excited to pick your brains!!

Have you ever had words just move you? I mean to the point of legit tear dropping or page ripping? It’s one of the reasons I love to read - I want to feel an emotion, get lost in it. I want to think “I want a love like that!” or “she better smack that man for that!”

I want to know what words move you, so here’s my question of the day: What is your favorite quote from a book?

Anyone who knows me knows my all time favorite book is Pride and Prejudice and my favorite line from that book is from Mr. Darcy himself:

“In vain have I struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.”

It was in this moment I started crying while wanting to bite off Mr. Darcy’s head. So what quote sticks out most in your head?

LET ME KNOW!

  1. Great question! I have 2, both from Hazel in The Fault in our Stars - 'I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once.'

    and...

"I'm like. Like. I'm a grenade, Mom. I'm a grenade and at some point I'm going to blow up and I would like to minimise the casualties, okay?"

    1. Ohh, two good ones Kayleigh! I think the first is very sweet and the second... well I like the fact that she knows herself so well!

  2. My absolute favorite quote is from Cassandra Clare's CITY OF GLASS.

“And now I’m looking at you, and you’re asking me if I still want you, as if I could stop loving you. As if I would want to give up the thing that makes me stronger than anything else ever has." - Jace

  3. My favorite quote would probably be that infamous line from Harry Potter "I solemnly swear I am up to no good"
I often post quotes from books that I'm reading that stand out to me. Most recently, a quote I loved was from Gillian Flynn's Dark Places - “I was not a lovable child, and I'd grown into a deeply unlovable adult. Draw a picture of my soul, and it'd be a scribble with fangs."

That second quote is so sad, so moving. I just want to hug whoever said that

  4. I've got a favorite quote from Jane Austen also, but mine is in PERSUASION, one of my all-time favorite books. Wentworth says this to Anne Elliott in a letter, near the end of the book.

"You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope."

  5. "Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins"

    although I also love

'It is a truth universally acknowledged that a young man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife".

While I don't particularly like Austen, she was one witty writer

  9. My favorite line is from "Hopeless" by Colleen Hoover

"Breckin deserved an apology. I acted like an asshole that day."
    "And I didn't deserve one?"
He looked at me dead on this time.
"No," he said firmly, turning his gaze back to the road.
"You don't deserve words, Sky. You deserve actions."

I get all smiley with that last line. "You deserve actions" My heart can't take it.
