The ultimate action-fueled end-of-the-world conspiracy trilogy from #1 New York Times bestselling author D.J. MacHale.

THEY CAME FROM THE SKY

parachuting out of military helicopters to invade Tucker Pierce’s idyllic hometown on Pemberwick Island, Maine.

They call themselves SYLO and they are a secret branch of the U.S. Navy. SYLO’s commander, Captain Granger, informs Pemberwick residents that the island has been hit by a lethal virus and must be quarantined. Now Pemberwick is cut off from the outside world.

Tucker believes there’s more to SYLO’s story. He was on the sidelines when the high school running back dropped dead with no warning. He saw the bizarre midnight explosion over the ocean, and the mysterious singing aircraft that travel like shadows through the night sky. He tasted the Ruby—and experienced the powers it gave him—for himself.

What all this means, SYLO isn’t saying. Only Tucker holds the clues that can solve this deadly mystery.

LOOK TO THE SKY
because Pemberwick is only the first stop.

Welcome to the SYLO blog tour! There’s no better person to explain some of the crazy, creepy things happening on Pemberwick Island than D.J. MacHale, so we asked him to spill all his secrets to all of you!

* Follow along on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to enter to win a SYLO prize pack at every tour stop and get the inside scoop on SYLO!

*Disclaimer: D.J. didn’t tell us all his secrets (though we tried!), but he did give us some pretty cool insight into his books.

All of my main characters are different versions of me. Or maybe I should say I focus on a different part of my personality to create each of my lead characters.

With Tucker Pierce, I tap into my slacker side. He’s pretty much an average guy.  He does no better than okay in school. He doesn’t have a girlfriend. He’s a mediocre athlete. While his friends all have aspirations to leave home and make their mark on the world, Tucker foresees a simple future of living close to home and maybe taking over his father’s small business one day. The thing is he’s totally okay with having such simple aspirations. He’s comfortable in his own skin, which shows an incredible amount of awareness and self-confidence.

Unfortunately, he learns that living life as a bystander isn’t always possible.  When faced with real challenges, he has no choice but to step up his game and in the process he learns much more about himself and his own strengths than he ever could have imagined.

  3. Well, I would certainly investigate and find out what the heck is going on. I like to go with my gut feeling, so there you go!

  4. I would definitely explore the limitations of my new powers - play with them and see if there are any negative effects. Then using these powers, investigate (secretly, of course) what is going on and reasoning behind it.

    Thanks,

  7. Well, in reality, I would probably just be hiding under the table hoping for it all to be over. I would be scared out of my skin!

  12. I would defer to my 13 year-old daughter, who is a lot smarter than I am. She's also a HUGE Morpheus Road fan, so I'll let her know about this book...

  13. I would definitely try to figure out what was going on....but as stealthily as I could. I wish I knew more of the characters because I'd try to figure who would know what and then go from there!

  14. Knowing myself, I would be one of those that caved in and did what I was told. I would love to be the one to uncover a conspiracy and save the town! :)

  16. Ha! I think I'm with purpleshadowhunter on this -- much as I'd like to say I'd rail against authority and dig deeper to find out more, I'm pretty sure I'd hide out somewhere with my family in an attempt to bury my head in the sand and pretend nothing's happening!! Sigh... sadly, should the Zombocalypse, military-industrial-corporate takeover, or environmental disaster ever actually arrive....well, I'm pretty darn sure I'll be one of the first to go down!!! :-)

Thanks so much for the giveaway!! I followed the first blog tour for the book and was happy to see there's another one; I really want to read this one!
