If you’re looking for a story about a good, humble girl, who’s been hurt by someone she thought she could trust, only to find out she’s not as vulnerable as she thought she was and discovers an empowering side of herself that falls in love with the guy who helps her find that self, blah, blah, blah...then you’re gonna’ hate my story.

Because mine is not the story you read every time you bend back the cover of the latest trend novel. It’s not the “I can do anything, now that I’ve found you/I’m misunderstood but one day you’ll find me irresistible because of it” tale. Why? Because, if I was being honest with you, I’m a complete witch. There’s nothing redeeming about me. I’m a friend using, drug abusing, sex addict from Los Angeles. I’m every girlfriend’s worst nightmare and every boy’s fantasy.

I’m Sophie Price...And this is the story about how I went from the world’s most envied girl to the girl no one wanted around and why I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

          My Review:

I bought this book from Amazon and was completely unprepared for it. I don't tend to read reviews because I don't want reviews to alter my thoughts of the book. I imagined "Vain" to be about a rich spoiled brat who got off on being a bitch. (Which is partially true) but I was completely taken by surprise. This novel was so intense and so raw. NO book that I have ever read can compare to what "Vain" made me feel. The message, the lesson, her redemption is amazing.

The last thing I expected to read about this book was Joseph Kony. I read about him a few months ago and all about "Invisible Children". He is today's modern version of the Devil. And the minute I read his name is this book, I had to put it down. I know what he's capable of and I wasn't sure if I can handle it if Ms. Amelie was graphic in description. He kidnaps innocent children in Uganda and use them as sex slaves and army soldiers. He built an army called the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army) and he somehow got this thought in his head that he's following the Lord's wishes. Whatever!! You ask why am I talking about Joseph Kony. Well this brilliant author did her research when she sent Sophia to Uganda. You can't write a book about Uganda and Kony with just small facts, you have to study him and his evil ways.

So Sophie gets caught with cocaine and the judge has had enough. Her dad and the judge had to show her a lesson and sends her to work at an orphanage in Masego (Uganda). And in this orphanage, where children are the only and number ONE priority, her wealth means NOTHING. Her beauty means NOTHING. The only thing that matters is what you can do for the kids. The love and happiness the kids displayed was incredible. Her on hands experience was a eye opener for Sophia. She got to experience what a day in Uganda is for the kids and the staff in the orphanage. And that's what changed her. Her new family helped her change her selfish ways. Yes, I said her family because she was adopted (not literally) into their family. Her redemption was flawless. The person she became was more beautiful than her physical beauty.

And lucky for Sophia she has the only eye candy there. Dingane (Din-John-e) a.k.a. Ian. Ian  wasn't impressed by her looks. He had his heart set on Masego and the kids. Ian is gorgeous and completely devoted to the kids and his family in the orphanage. And he has NO problem putting Sophia in her place. But what really happens when two beautiful people get together? Chances are sparks are going to fly. And you can read/feel their chemistry. I love it. And I love them and so will you! This story was completely amazing!! The message behind the story is phenomenal. Fisher Amelie's message was amazing. I love Sophia redemption. Vain is what she use to be.

I give Vain a huge 5 Gold Stars, a definite must buy and a definite Good Choice for Reading!!

    1. It really is and thank you. Honestly inner beauty means so much. You can be the most beautiful person and have the ugliest personality. You become ugly to me.
