Cinder returns in the second thrilling installment of the New York Times-bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.
Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother and the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she has no choice but to trust him, though he clearly has a few dark secrets of his own.
As Scarlet and Wolf work to unravel one mystery, they find another when they cross paths with Cinder. Together, they must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen who will do anything to make Prince Kai her husband, her king, her prisoner.

Cinder, Cinder, Cinder - the first novel in this series - the one that I still talk about ----- months later.

When I first started reading Scarlet, I almost got angry. Where was my Cinder? How dare the author add another protagonist! But then...Marissa Meyer did what she does best. She made me fall in love...again. (Although it helped that Cinder was still in the book too)

In many ways, Scarlet is the total opposite of Cinder. She grew up with a living grandmother, she had all that she needed in life - a happy and carefree childhood. And in the beginning, Scarlet is also weaker than Cinder and so easily let's her emotions get the best if her.

But there are places where the two are incredibly alike. They both out up facades to hide their true emotions; and they both fight like hell for the ones they love - no matter the cost.

Okay...I digressed! Let me tell you about the book! I can happily report that I loved Scarlet just as much as Cinder. I hated having to out the book down and I longed to find out more about our new characters. Scarlett and her live interest, Wolf (just a nickname, don't worry) are a very straightforward pair. A little predictable, but simple - and I liked that. In the end, they ended up exactly the way I wanted them to be.

If you liked Cinder, you'll adore Scarlet. Give them both a shot!

5 out of 5 stars!

  3. I've been hearing nothing but good things about Cinder, so I can't wait to read that one. It's nice to know that the sequel is good too!

  4. I liked Cinder but I ended up loving Scarlet (the books-I think I still like Cinder a bit more than Scarlet as a character and I know I love Kai so I'm pleased that Wolf is getting such a positive reaction from the blogosphere).
