Kacey Cleary’s whole life imploded four years ago in a drunk-driving accident. Now she’s working hard to bury the pieces left behind—all but one. Her little sister, Livie. Kacey can swallow the constant disapproval from her born-again aunt Darla over her self-destructive lifestyle; she can stop herself from going kick-boxer crazy on Uncle Raymond when he loses the girls’ college funds at a blackjack table. She just needs to keep it together until Livie is no longer a minor, and then they can get the hell out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

But when Uncle Raymond slides into bed next to Livie one night, Kacey decides it’s time to run. Armed with two bus tickets and dreams of living near the coast, Kacey and Livie start their new lives in a Miami apartment complex, complete with a grumpy landlord, a pervert upstairs, and a neighbor with a stage name perfectly matched to her chosen “profession.” But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle all of them. What she can’t handle is Trent Emerson in apartment 1D.

Kacey doesn’t want to feel. She doesn’t. It’s safer that way. For everyone. But sexy Trent finds a way into her numb heart, reigniting her ability to love again. She starts to believe that maybe she can leave the past where it belongs and start over. Maybe she’s not beyond repair.

But Kacey isn’t the only one who’s broken. Seemingly perfect Trent has an unforgiveable past of his own; one that, when discovered, will shatter Kacey’s newly constructed life and send her back into suffocating darkness.

          My Review:

I have heard a lot about this book on Twitter and Goodreads. The hype about it had me intrigued so much that I decided to buy it. Ten Tiny Breaths was a super great read. I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. But it ended up being a book that I could see myself rereading in the future. In Ten Tiny Breaths you gets lots of new relationships, friendships, suspense and long hidden secrets. The author has you going through a roller coaster of emotions in this book.

This novel started out with Kacey running off with her little sister Livie. But since Kacey was an emotional mess, I was very skeptic on their survival skills. I was certain that their aunt and uncle would come and grab them both and take them back home. But slowly things kind of oddly started falling into place for her. She meets her stripper neighbor and the sexy guy next door. This is where the book becomes interesting.

This book deals with the whole issue of drinking and driving. This whole story revolves around that. Kacey is dealing with the lost of her parents, her bff and her boyfriend. Ten Tiny Breaths is what her mother would tell her to do when things became overwhelming for her. But when that doesn't work Trent tries to get her to get help. But at the stage of grievance Kacey is in, nothing helps.

Ten Tiny Breaths is a really emotional read. Kacey revolves her whole life around her little sister trying to give her the best possible life. But things don't get any better when HUGE secrets are relieved. That part of the book that broke my heart. I wanted so much for Kacey's pain to go away and for her and Trent to figure things out. I even fell in love with Storm the sexy stripper next door. She saw something in Kacey and did not give up on their friendship.

This is the kind of book that would have you in tears if you're a crier. I'm a crier so it did bring tears to my eyes. The ending was perfect and I absolutely loved where everyone's life ended up. I heard Ten Tiny Breaths was picked up by Atria Book which is Simon & Schuester. I'm really happy for Ms. Tucker. I can't wait to read the sequel which is called "One Tiny Lie" which is her little sister's story. I give Ten Tiny Breaths a huge 5 stars and a definite Good Choice for Reading.

    1. Yeah Storm was an interesting character. I really liked her and I really liked Trent. I can't wait for the second book. But I know we're going to wait for a while now since her novel was picked up.

  2. I haven't read Ten Tiny Breaths, and I'm not entering the giveaway because I already get so many free books it isn't fair, but I will go and download this for my e-reader right now. It sounds wonderful.
