Interview with author Emily Snow! (Tidal Blog Tour/Giveaway)

Tell us a little about yourself and your latest/upcoming release.

First, thanks so much to the ladies at Good Choice Reading Blog for letting me stop by. I’m so thrilled to be here! I’m from a tiny town in Virginia that literally has like three stop lights. I’m married (to my just-out-of-high school sweetheart) and have children, all of whom are ecstatic with the fact that I write as it means I won’t bother them when they’re watching TV now!

My latest book is called TIDAL. It’s the story of Willow, an actress with a drug dependency, who’s given a second chance in a new movie. She quickly finds herself falling in love with Cooper, the surf coach hired to train her for the new role.

When did you realize that you wanted to become a writer? What was the very first thing you ever wrote?

I’ve enjoyed writing for years. I mean, I still have copies of novels I wrote in middle school but I refuse to let them see the light of day. Ever. I decided to get serious about writing in 2012 and sat my butt down to actually get the story out. I ended up writing quite a few books!

Do you read reviews of your books? What do you do when you read a not-so-nice one?

To be honest . . . when I released my first book DEVOURED in October of last year I checked reviews a few times a day. Now, I look at feedback once or twice a week. As far as the not-so-nice reviews go . . . well, sometimes they sting, but I know that not everyone is going to enjoy my books, just like I’m not going to enjoy everything I read. Regardless of whether it’s good or bad, I love hearing feedback. It helps me point out how I can improve my books in the future.

What's the one piece of technology you can't live without?

Definitely my laptop! It’s permanently attached to my lap, and my husband swears I’m going to break the thing because I leave the power on for so many hours of the day.

Do you have a book in your house that's just destroyed because you've read it so much?

There are actually quite a few that are falling to pieces because I’ve read them so much! I’d say the top three (the ones that I’ll probably need to replace very soon) are The Hunger Games, Jane Eyre, and Skye O’Malley.

What do you normally like to read when not writing?

I read EVERYTHING. There’s seriously a book that I enjoy in every genre. Some of the books I’ve read recently are Silence and Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick (I LOVE Patch!), Dirty Red by Tarryn Fisher, and I’ve read upcoming releases from my crit partners Katie and Michelle.

Who designed your cover?

Me! My husband bought me Photoshop so I learned how to use it by studying tutorials on YouTube. Whenever I write a new book, I buy stock photos from Fotolia or Getty Images and use those as a base image for my covers.

What is your favorite holiday?

So, you’re going to think I’m strange, but . . . Halloween. I abso-freaking-lutely love Halloween!

If there is one genre that you have not written in yet, but would love to try writing a book in that specific genre, what would it be?

Epic Fantasy! I’m a huge fan of the A Song of Ice and Fire series and would love to come up with a world that’s so intricate and all around kick-ass.

This is or That

Cat or Dog? Dog
Ice cream or Sorbet? Ice cream
Heels or flats? Heels
Knives or sword? Ninja throwing stars (I know, I know, but they’re kind of in between a knife and sword, right?)
Coffee or Tea? Coffee
Iced tea or hot tea? Iced tea—the more sugar, the better!
Snow or rain? Snow
Soda or Juice? Soda
Twitter or Facebook? Facebook
Actual book or eReader? I’ll pick the actual book every time! I love the way real pages feel!
Young Adult or New Adult? Both!!!
Vampires or Werewolves? Vamps—no, werewolves—no vampires. *Thinks of Eric and Alcide* Um, I think I’ll just go with both here!
Ghost or Zombies? Zombies!

Thanks again for letting me stop by, ladies! It’s been a pleasure.

About Tidal by Emily Snow...
Now that Willow Avery is out of rehab, she's got one chance left to prove herself before she’s officially on every director’s shit list. At least, that's what her parents and agent are claiming. She doesn't really give a damn if she never makes another movie or not—she just wants to get on with her life, get back to her friends, and find her next escape. But Willow is broke. And whether she likes it or not, acting is the only job she knows how to do.

When she accepts the lead in a beach drama, Willow finds herself in Hawaii. And in Hawaii, she finds Cooper, the gorgeous surfer hired to train her for her new role. With the bluest eyes she’s ever seen and the sexiest Australian accent she’s ever heard, Cooper’s different from the men she’s used to. He doesn’t want to use her. And he refuses to let her fail. But when an old friend re-enters Willow’s life—a friend whose toxicity she’s been drawn to time and time before and whose presence brings about the painful memories she's tried so hard to suppress—Willow will have to choose between the girl she was and the person she’s becoming. The lifestyle that helps her forget the pain and the man she’s falling hard for.
