Review: Flight by Alyssa Rose Ivy

Sometimes you just have to take flight.

A summer in New Orleans is exactly what Allie needs before starting college. Accepting her dad’s invitation to work at his hotel offers an escape from her ex-boyfriend and the chance to spend the summer with her best friend. Meeting a guy is the last thing on her mind—until she sees Levi.

Unable to resist the infuriating yet alluring Levi, Allie finds herself at the center of a supernatural society and forced to decide between following the path she has always trusted or saving a city that might just save her.

This was a really, really good story. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it because the main character and the love interest were really getting on my nerves with their bickering and constant banter, but that didn't last very long. Their relationship quickly turned into a very interesting one, and SUPER HOT. I found myself really into Allie and Levi as a couple.

Things are slowly revealed in the story, but I liked this. The author gives you the chance to get to know her characters and their background. You also get to watch friendships form.

Once things were out in the open, the story of course was even more intriguing and I found myself zooming through pages. Alyssa Rose Ivy had my attention from beginning to end. The story takes place in New Orleans and I recently visited New Orleans this past August for Authors After Dark, and some of the places that were mentioned I actually had visited. It brought back memories.

Anyway, back to the story. LOL! There were somethings that I felt didn't really need to be in the story. It just didn't make sense to me to have it in there when it wasn't touched again in the story. Without giving to much away, but it has to do with her best friend and a mistake her best friend makes. I thought there was a reason why the author added it to the story, but now that I think about it there really wasn't one. Unless maybe it's covered in book two? Not sure. But either way, I enjoyed this book a lot and cannot wait to read the sequel. I hope it's as good as the first. I love when I discover a new indie author. Thank you Savannah @ Books With Bite for the recommendation.

4 out of 5 Stars!

    1. Not sure if that was meant to be that way or not, but it has nothing to do with the story. However, the cover does remind me of a scene in the book that was HOT! lol
