Interview w/ author Elizabeth Richards + Cover reveal details!

Hi Elizabeth!

Welcome back to GoodChoiceReading!

Black City's release day is just around the corner. What are your plans for the release? Party? Signing?

I'm incredibly shy, so I've shunned the traditional launch/signing at a bookstore, and instead am having a house party with my family and friends. There's going to be cake, cocktails and maybe even a mumbled speech from me. To be honest, the party is more of a way for me to say ‘thank you’ to them for all their love and support over the years!

Describe Ash and Natalie in FIVE words.

Ash - Damaged, conflicted, lonely, loyal, heroic.

Natalie - Brave, rebellious, contrary, compassionate, strong.

Describe BLACK CITY in SIX words.

A dark, dangerous, thrilling, dystopian romance.

If BLACK CITY were to be picked up for a TV series, or movie, which would you choose? And why?

Oooh, it’s got be a movie! Black City’s themes, sweeping romance, and action set-pieces really lend themselves to the cinema. Funnily enough, I studied Scriptwriting for TV and Film at university, so when I write my novels I often visualize my scenes as movie set-pieces, so I can really see it working as a film.

Will we be meeting any new characters in PHOENIX?

Yes! In addition to some old favorites, you’ll also get to meet some new characters in PHOENIX, including a Lupine named Rafe Garrick, and a flame-haired temptress called Giselle. Plus a hot new Bastet boy, Elijah, will arrive in Black City, and he’ll be bringing a whole lot of trouble along with him!

Thank you Elizabeth for stopping by today!

Blurb:
A dark and tender post-apocalyptic love story set in the aftermath of a bloody war.

In a city where humans and Darklings are now separated by a high wall and tensions between the two races still simmer after a terrible war, sixteen-year-olds Ash Fisher, a half-blood Darkling, and Natalie Buchanan, a human and the daughter of the Emissary, meet and do the unthinkable—they fall in love. Bonded by a mysterious connection that causes Ash’s long-dormant heart to beat, Ash and Natalie first deny and then struggle to fight their forbidden feelings for each other, knowing if they’re caught, they’ll be executed—but their feelings are too strong.

When Ash and Natalie then find themselves at the center of a deadly conspiracy that threatens to pull the humans and Darklings back into war, they must make hard choices that could result in both their deaths.

  4. "A dark, dangerous, thrilling, dystopian romance." Really? You had me at Dark and Dystopian! I need to be reading this ASAP. It's interesting that the author writes her books with an eye to how the scenes would play out as a movie. I'm partial to TV series because they are able to focus more on the details of the story since they are spread out over time instead of condensed into a couple hours.
