Review: Easy By Tammara Webber

Easy
Easy by Tammara Webber
AmazonBarnes & Noble

A girl who believes trust can be misplaced, promises are made to be broken, and loyalty is an illusion. A boy who believes truth is relative, lies can mask unbearable pain, and guilt is eternal. Will what they find in each other validate their conclusions, or disprove them all?

When Jacqueline follows her longtime boyfriend to the college of his choice, the last thing she expects is a breakup two months into sophomore year. After two weeks in shock, she wakes up to her new reality: she's single, attending a state university instead of a music conservatory, ignored by her former circle of friends, and failing a class for the first time in her life.

Leaving a party alone, Jacqueline is assaulted by her ex's frat brother. Rescued by a stranger who seems to be in the right place at the right time, she wants nothing more than to forget the attack and that night--but her savior, Lucas, sits on the back row of her econ class, sketching in a notebook and staring at her. Her friends nominate him to be the perfect rebound.

When her attacker turns stalker, Jacqueline has a choice: crumple in defeat or learn to fight back. Lucas remains protective, but he's hiding secrets of his own. Suddenly appearances are everything, and knowing who to trust is anything but easy.

          My Review:

Easy was very easy to fall into. This book touches a very important subject: Rape. And as much as I enjoyed this book, the rape subject was conflicting with me. The fact that she basically wanted to just forget the night happened was something that didn't settle well with me. But then again, I also understand that people deal with trauma differently. So that's my only qualm with this novel. Aside from that the rest of the story was great.

I love my significant other but if I were to meet a Lucas, I wouldn't know where to put my head. The character was Lucas was written so sexy. He was like a Renaissance Man. He did a bit of everything and that's such a turn on. But most of all he cared a whole lot about Jacqueline and I sure wish I could put myself in her shoes when it came to him. He's just someone you don't let go. "I won't let you go, Lucas!" my words. LOL.

As for Jacqueline, I enjoyed her character. Though, I'm not crazy about the way she handled the whole rape situation. Aside from that, she is a very strong character. And even more strong is when she stayed the same person even after her poor excuse for ex-boyfriend broke up with her for selfish reasons. She doesn't let her head drop when everyone around her turned their backs on her. Best of all, she didn't let this break-up and social setback define her.

When you get Lucas and Jacqui in the same page, you knew that there was going to be some sparks or sexual tension. These two characters helped each other in ways they didn't expect. The complimented each other. They're my favorite couple in books right now. Easy was a great read and I recommend it to those who love college romances. Easy is a 5 stars read and a definite Good Choice for Reading.

P.S. After writing my review and looking for links to share with you all, I noticed "Easy" was picked up by Penguin Group. So Congratulations to Tammara Webber on your success.

  4. I LOVE this book. I've been in that situation of being sexually assaulted by someone I knew (a coworker). And you know what? For a long time I wanted to just forget it ever happened. So I can totally see where she's coming from. I can't even get enough of this book, and I've since bought Tammara's other works. :)

  5. I see where you are coming from with how she handled the assault at first--but I think like you said, different people handle differently, and in the end she came clean!
    Happy reading,
