TQOTD - Do You Multi-Task While Reading?

Happy Thursday GoodChoiceReaders!

Let me paint the scene for you:

I'm in my house finishing up a book, right? At the same time, my husband's watching an extremely loud baseball game on tv, my kids are asking me questions every five seconds, and I'm trying to cook a 15-minute dinner for everyone. To put it simply: I have become the master of multi-task book-reading! Nothing will distract me from my book :)

Thursday's Question of the Day: Do You Do Other Activities While You're Reading? Are you a Multi-Task Book-Reader?

LET ME KNOW!!

  1. Actually, I also multitask. But not nearly as many things as you. I'm usually checking twitter, have blasting music on, and watching TV, all the while reading a good book :)

  2. I prefer to have tunnel-vision when it comes to reading, but I've become a great multitasking reader like you because the rest of my family doesn't seem to understand my want for a quiet reading environment, and I often end up cooking for everyone too, and having to read while I do so!
But I almost always only read one book at a time.

  3. No, I don't. If I try to, I get distracted and end up not reading. It happens often.

  4. I would rather lose myself in a book then have to multi-task while reading. I do have a tendency to read multiple books at a time though because I never know what I'll be in the mood to read at any given time.

  5. Depends! Sometimes it's just while listening to music, but most of the time it's the same as you...kids are running around the house and asking questions/demanding things, tv is on, etc. OR I'm at work (I'm a school librarian) and there are kids every where signing in and out of the LMC, asking questions, needing help with things, phones ringing, bells ringing, etc. It's insanity at all times and I always try to hack out at least a half hour of reading each day at school! (That's all I can ever get honestly! LOL!)

  6. Most of the time when I am reading and try to multitask, I end up with something bruised or bloodied from running face or shin first into a wall, door, dog, cabinet, tree or husband. You would think that I had learned my lesson by now, but nope. I will continue to TRY and multitask forever while reading, I am sure. Sometimes it is just too hard to put down that book to get something like laundry or dishes or dinner done. I can actually watch football or golf or some such while reading, and only get hurt minimally!

  7. Not really, I can never concentrate, I really like giving all of my attention to my books, so I always go sit, play some music and just enjoy the story :)

  8. I read and walk in the hallways at school while listening to my ipod to drown out the noise of everyone else screaming in the halls. Plus I'll be doing math and read a fantasy book at the same time while watching whatever happens to be on tv at the time. :)

  9. I always multitask while reading. I usually am watching tv, or playing games on Facebook, or cooking dinner, or eating.
