Fallenmore by Lucy Swing Blog Tour -- Interview & Giveaway!

1. Welcome Lucy! Tell us a little bit about yourself and your Feathermore series.

Hi ladies! Thank you so much for hosting me at Good Choice Reading today.

I am a YA Paranormal Romance writer who is nearing her 30s and dreading every minute of it. I am a mother of two and married to my high school sweetheart. My debut novel is Feathermore. A story of a young girl, Jade, who finally finds love only to be hit with one tragedy after the next. In Feathermore nothing is as it seems, and Jade will soon find out that her life and her true self, were only being born.

2. If you can compare your main character, Jade, to anyone in real life, who would that be? And why?

If she resembled anyone, it would be me. But with more of a kick a** personality.

She is down to eart, sarcastic and would do anything for her loved ones.

3. Tell us one thing readers do not know about Feathermore?

Feathermore was originally going to be for adults.

4. What can we expect in Fallenmore?

A whole lot of Blake! Team Blake’s ladies will be happy about this. In Fallenmore Jade is in a much darker place and must fight her way through it. But when you’ve lost everything, what do you fight for?

5. Do you have a soundtrack to your series? If so, can you share some of the songs with our followers?

I am in love with anything by Within Temptation. Most of the songs in the soundtrack are from them. You will find a short list of the most played songs below. However, one song that was on full blast while writing the fight scenes, was Rob Zombie’s “Superbeast”. It is the perfect track for the gym! Check it out.

*BEWARE! May cause epilepsy attacks lol.*

Within Temptation songs:

Somewhere
Memories
The Howling
What have you done – this would be the book official song

6. How many books can we expect in the series?

It is actually a trilogy, so only 3 (more or less). *winks but keeps it a secret*

7. Can we have a small teaser from either Feathermore or Fallenmore?
“I promise you, it will all be okay.”

“How can you say that? Nothing will ever be okay.” I searched his eyes; there was no way he truly believed that. “Nothing,”I whispered feeling defeated.Nothing would ever change what happened, life would keep moving forward but I would stay frozen in place by the pain of loss. My heart felt like it was being pulled in thousands of different directions, and the pain was frustratingly unbearable. I had to do something. Avan had been my shield to the grief that I had felt after my parent’s death. And now he was gone too. With my head hung low, I got back in bed, pulling the sheets up to my chin.

“You will move on, eventually, even if it feels like the complete opposite right now.” He sat down on the edge of the bed; taking my face, he cradled it in his hands. There was a slight humming energy between us, but it paled in comparison to the one I had felt with Avan. Hearing his name in my head, I closed my eyes and for a moment, pretended it was him here with me, holding me.

Blake moved away. I opened my eyes, following him until he stood by the window, looking out. “I will do everything in my power to make you feel better.” He said. Conviction hung in every word.

I wanted to believe him, that one day I would eventually move on, but I couldn’t. It wouldn’t be right. The shadow above me flickered and grew, calling out to me. As I stared at it, a wave of confidence and strength surged through me. I couldn’t just forget about it.

I pulled the sheets aside and got out of bed. With the snap of my fingers, I manifested new clothes; a pair of black jeans, a leather jacket and a gray tee underneath it. I had never worn a leather jacket before, but it suited my mood just fine. Of course, the snapping of my fingers was only to add dramatic effect, and from the silence that draped over the room, it had worked. Pulling my hair onto a ponytail, I exited my room with a grace I did not know was possible, never once looking back at him.

“What are you doing?” Blake’s disapproving voice came from somewhere in the staircase.

I froze a few feet away from the front door and turned, very slowly, to look up at him. I extended my left arm on my side, opening my hand outward. Like metal to a magnet, a pair of car keys came flying into my palm. I closed my fingers around the cold brass. Never once breaking eye contact, I responded, “To finish what they started.” Then I shot him a malicious smile.

The front door swung open without me even touching it, but before I could reach it, Blake was in front of me, the door closing shut behind him. “No, you’re not.”

“Who do you think you?” My voice was low and guttural, something I had never experienced before. Then again, I was in uncharted territory now. Whatever I had become certainly wasn’t the old Jade.

“You don’t want to do this. You’re not thinking clearly.” He lowered his voice, but I still heard what he said next, "I knew I should have kept the restraints on you." His hand wound up on my shoulder again, the act was a mixture of warning and threat all wrapped up in one, but in a blur of fast movements, I had him pinned on the hardwood floor.

He wasn’t going to tell me what to do. I’ve gone along with people doing that for far too long, and it was time for it to stop. “Claire should be expecting what’s coming for her.” I let go of him with one last shove and opened the door. There, on the driveway, was a silver BMW. “Nice car,” I said over my shoulder as I walked away. But, where was my Dad’s old truck? My truck?

“You don’t want to fall, Jade. Trust me.” He yelled from inside the house, but I wasn’t stopping. Nothing could stop me now.

“Oh, but I already fell. Maybe not literally,” I said softly, knowing he could hear me just fine even from several feet away and I shrugged my shoulders, “but give me about an hour or so.” The car lights blinked twice and I heard the doors unlock.

“If you fall, it won’t be you anymore. He will own you! You have no idea what that is like. You will turn into someone completely different; you will do things that are not in your nature.”

When I didn’t stop, I heard him whispering in my ear, “I’m sorry, but I can’t let you do it.”

He was suddenly right behind me with his arms around me, keeping my own arms at either side of my body. I wiggled in a futile attempt to get away from him, but it was no use, he wouldn’t budge. Unable to move away from him, I stilled. If he wanted a fight, he would get one. When he thought I was subdued, and his arms relaxed, I would strike. “You don’t want to do this, Jade. Not really.” That was the last thing I heard before the darkness of the night, which danced freely around us, consumed me.
