CASSANDRA CLARE COVER!
This has to be the coolest cover reveal ever done!

On July 10th, at 3pm, Simon & Schuster posted the cover reveal of Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare, due out in March, 2013. But when they put out the cover, it was hidden behind a dark veil, and then S&S noted that only those who tweeted about the covers could remove the veil.

Quick as lightning, that cover was revealed! With 30,000 tweets in just two hours, the cover appeared in full view on the website. And even after the cover was clear, the fans just kept on tweeting. By 7pm (just 4 hours later), there were over 100,000 fan-generated tweets!

Nice Going, Simon & Schuster!

FIERCE READS!

Between June 5th and June 18th, Macmillan Children's Publishing sent four debut YA authors across the country as part of their Fierce Reads national marketing campaign.

The authors on the tour were Anna Banks (Poseidon), Leigh Bardugo (Shadow & Bone), Jennifer Bosworth (Struck) and Emmy Laybourne (Monument 14).  Along the way, the authors were also joined by one or two other more established Macmillian authors, like Marissa Meyer (Cinder).  There will be an additional author tour in September and October, 2012.

The Fierce Reads tour was designed to spotlight first-time novelists. The next leg of this tour will take place September 18-24, and the second will be October 16-22. The folks at Macmillan anticipate that the Fierce Reads initiative (which will also include movie theatre, print and Facebook advertising, and an extensive social media campaign) will create a lasting and engaged YA community.

  1. What Do You Think When Film Studios Do This?

I love it! There is no way they can squeeze this awesome books into 1 movie. If they were just doing it to sell tickets, but there is so much that they have to cut to make it fit in a 90 minute movie, I say the more the better!

  2. It made sense when Harry Potter split the book into two movies. It was practically two different stories anyway so that was right for them. I don't really see the point in other movies splitting the books because it just seems to drag things out way too much just to fill a film.
