After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.

Her opponents are men—thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the kings council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.

Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her... but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead... quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

What an entertaining roller coaster ride Throne of Glass is! Talk about a kick-butt character... no one has anything on Celaena!

I love it when I read a book and the main character is so strong minded, positive, (strong willed) and not once throughout the story does her character slip. Celaena was snarky, funny, bold, brave, everything! You name it! She's a very cocky character, but she has EVERY reason to be. This girl was smart! I've read some stories where the characters starts out very brave and strong, but somewhere down the line she becomes weak and whiney. Well you won't find that in Throne of Glass.

What I loved most was the way the author wrote this book. It was like watching a movie play out in my head. I love it when a book does this to me. I am no writer, but the way Sarah Maas pieced this book together is what helped me understand Celaena, her world, and the people in it. This is one of those books that I can easily see becoming huge. It has a bit of everything in it and normally I don't like to compare books to others, but it really did have a feel of Hunger Games to it only with a slight taste of historical. This is the one book I think deserves to be a series and should have about 20 books! Plus, my name is in it! I am a sword in the book. How freaking cool is that?

My only complaint is Celaena made a decision towards the end of the book that I wasn't happy with, but I understood why she did it.

So you want a book that is entertaining? Do you want a romance that will melt your heart? A character that is kick-ass! With a world that is very believable? Twist that you won’t be able to see coming? Then definitely buy Throne of Glass! This book is a fast read that will definitely leave you satisfied!

5 out of 5 Stars!

This has been a great month for me with reading!

  5. This book is one of many which I'm just dying to read and the fact that you gave it 5 out of 5 doesn't help me with my waning patience.

Anyway, it sounds awesome and I just can't (underline, bold, italic) wait to get my hands on it :P
