A detective with a secret...
When homicide detective Alexandra Jarvis sees a photo of Seth Benjamin on a police bulletin, she knows that Heaven's plan to halt Armageddon has gone terribly wrong. As the only mortal who knows of Seth's true nature, she's also the only one who can save him.

An exiled angel turned assassin...
Aramael was a hunter of Fallen Angels until a traitor forced him into earthly exile. Now, with no powers and only a faint memory of Alex, his mortal soul mate, he will stop at nothing to redeem himself--even if it means destroying Seth in the name of the Creator.

A world with little chance of redemption...
As Alex's need to protect Seth sets her on a collision course with the determined Aramael, the conflict between them may push the world over the edge--and into the very chaos they're trying to prevent.

My take:

The second book in the Grigori Legacy surprised me. Sins of the Son picks up right where Sins of the Angels left off. The characters in this story are very strong and well developed. Mrs. Poitevin had done an amazing job of bringing you into their stories and the realm of Theology.

This story is full of twist and turns and keeps you on the edge of your seat. There are many stories that are linked to the bigger story, which is Armageddon. The theological concepts are intriguing. An agreement has been made between The One and Lucifer about humanity and the deciding factor is which side their son chooses, but he doesn’t know that. Each side is trying to tip the scales in their favor without causing the agreement to be Null and Void. You have the Fallen Angels that are conspiring to rid the world of humanity and heaven’s hierarchy that is being torn apart by their wants and need to defend humanity. The other story is the love triangle between Detective Alexandra Jarvis, Seth (the son of The One and Lucifer), and Aramael (her soul mate who she believes is dead). Seth has made a choice that brings him to earth as a mortal adult with all his power that he possessed as an Angel but with one small problem, he has no memory of what he is to do or why he has this power. He only remembers a name…Alexandra Jarvis. Alexandra is trying to stay out of the anything theological and trying to fight her own demons. She is thrown back on to it when she sees Seth’s picture on a police bulletin as a John Doe and is compelled to help him. Then there is Aramael, who is Alex’s soul mate, is on a mission to destroy Seth. But with Alex protecting him he may be forces to harm her as well. What information does Lucifer have that will have devastating consequences for Alex? Will Aramael stand by his decision? Will humanity be saves?

I enjoyed reading this book and cannot wait for the third to come out. But this book cannot stand alone. I recommend reading the first book before this one or you will feel that you are missing something. This is also a very dark urban fantasy story. I would advise caution when recommending this book. It is not for young readers.

Five out of five stars!
