Galen, a Syrena prince, searches land for a girl he's heard can communicate with fish. It’s while Emma is on vacation at the beach that she meets Galen. Although their connection is immediate and powerful, Galen's not fully convinced that Emma's the one he's been looking for. That is, until a deadly encounter with a shark proves that Emma and her Gift may be the only thing that can save his kingdom. He needs her help--no matter what the risk.

Of Poseidon is one of those books that the story doesn't wow you, but the characters do. And I mean this in a good way. The story to me was just average and interesting enough to grasp my attention; I loved the characters more than anything. There were so many laugh out loud moments and so many times that I found myself smiling and turning the pages just because of the characters. Of Poseidon is definitely character driven and I liked each and every single one of them.

The only real issue I had with Of Poseidon (and I have this issue with a lot of books) is she loses someone close to her and in like three weeks she is practically okay. It’s just not believable at all that you lose someone close to you and you’re THAT okay. This isn’t the first book that I’ve come across where a character learns to deal with death in such a short time frame. I just keep telling myself its fiction and it’s not a true story. It was hard at first though while reading because I kept thinking to myself How is she so okay with everything?

Overall, even though I had a small issue with that part of the story, it does move at a great pace and you don't have to read until the very end to learn what is going on or who is who. Anna Banks takes you right into their world and doesn’t drag anything out. With every chapter you get an answer. I think this was another reason that I kept reading until the end. Despite everything I was entertained. This is definitely a fast read.

4 out of 5 stars!

  1. Yeah, I had a huge problem with that aspect of the story as well. Not only did she lose someone close to her, but she was there when it happened. She watched her friend slip off the board, saw the blood and the water, and then saw her dead body with a leg made solely of bones. You're not going to be okay a week later.

She rants about how sad she is on the first day of school, and then is distracted. She mentions Chloe like twice more but that's it. And those mentions are like, oh yeah I used to have a friend named Chloe, not sadness.

    Ranty rant is ranty.

  2. I had a small problem with that too, but I don't think I was quite as affected by it as others have been. Either way, I really enjoyed the story and I'm excited to see what's going to happen next. Also, wasn't her mom CRAY CRAY??? I was like, WHAT IS UP WITH THIS LADY?!?! Made sense in the end :)

    1. Yes! I thought her mother was a bit fishy lol but to be honest, I saw that ending coming from like the middle of the book lol. I was happy with it though.

  3. I am not sure about this one. I don't usually enjoy characters who have something traumatic happened then end up just find really quickly. I am torn on reading this one.
