NO PULITZER PRIZE IN FICTION!
When a book earns the Pulitzer Prize, it usually means instant prestige and a huge boost in sales for the author and the publisher. This year, there were three fiction novels up for the prize: Denis Johnson with his novella "Train Dreams", Karen Russell for "Swamplandia!" and David Foster Wallace for "The Pale King".
According to Pulitzer administrator, Sig Gissler, there was no fictional prize winner because none of the three entries received a majority of board votes. He also wrote in an email, "I can say that multiple factors were involved. Beyond that, we do not discuss the deliberations, which are confidential. We realize that the lack of an award in Fiction is a disappointment to many. We regret that. But I can assure you that the Board made a considered decision."

One comic book owner said, "It draws people in who don't normally come to a comic shop and, hopefully, they browse when they're here."
This summer, there are three huge super hero film adaptations - "The Avengers," "The Dark Knight Rises", and "The Amazing Spider-Man".

The similar titles are about the only thing these two books have in common! "Between Shades of Gray" is the story of a 15-year-old Lithuanian girl who is exiled to Siberia in 1941...not quite what they were expecting!

COVER REVEAL: PRODIGY BY MARIE LU!
On May 3rd, USA Today revealed the cover for the second book in the Legend series by Marie Lu. This past November, Lu released her debut novel, "Legend" - a new dystopian series. A movie adaptation of the first book is currently in development.

And the cover of Prodigy yay!!! I saw it on Facebook and flipped out. And then I read the excerpt and and flipped out some more. Yay for excitement!!!

ReplyDeleteSomeone posted on my IMM yesterday that she was so excited to get to read Fifty Shades of Grey - and the book that came in my mailbox was Between Shades of Grey! I found it irritating. Not only are the books completely different when you look at their synopses, but the covers are different, too, so she didn't take that close of a look at the post.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that Ellen video! She can turn pretty much anything funny! LOVE IT!! I've been hearing so much about Fifty Shades of Grey, that I guess I'm just going to have to pick it up soon, and check it out for myself ;).
