As most of you may already know April is Autism Awareness Month and to help spread the word about Autism we have all joined together in this blog hop. Autism affects 1 in every 88 children today and it has a very wide spectrum. In some cases of Autism it can be very minimal  and some can be severe with mental retardation. And right now you may be curious as to why Autism is a topic so close to my heart? Well the reason behind that is my handsome 11 year old was diagnosed with Autism as a young boy. Being a parent of a child with Autism has been very hard on both of us. We face many challenges together yet we have overcome many obstacles as well. Every single day I breathe air into my lungs, I look forward to the day we find out what's the true cause of Autism. I ask a favor of those reading this post, if you know a parent with a child with Autism, ask them what can you do for them. And many of us parents just need someone to hear us out without judgement. Do you think you can do that? Lets spread the knowledge! Below are some links you can use to learn more about Autism.

Along with this blog post, I'm giving away a copy of a book I read when I first started blogging, The book is called "Saving Max by Antoinette Van Heugten" Click here for my review.

Max Parkman - autistic and whip-smart, emotionally fragile and aggressive - is perfect in his mother's eyes. Until he's accused of murder.
Attorney Danielle Parkman knows her teenage son Max's behavior has been getting worse - using drugs and lashing out. But she can't accept the diagnosis she receives at a top-notch adolescent psychiatric facility that her son is deeply disturbed. Dangerous.
Until she finds Max, unconscious and bloodied, beside a patient who has been brutally stabbed to death. Trapped in a world of doubt and fear, barred from contacting Max, Danielle clings to the belief that her son is innocent. But has she, too, lost touch with reality? Is her son really a killer?
With the justice system bearing down on them, Danielle steels herself to discover the truth, no matter what it is. She'll do whatever it takes to find the killer and to save her son from being destroyed by a system that's all too eager to convict him

Below is a book trailer of "Saving Max"

Rules for this giveaway is simple, must be in the US and leave a meaningful comment below with your email address. Also make sure to check out the other blogs in this hop.

  11. As a mother of a son on the spectrum, this hop is so dear to my heart. I am very involved at school with my son because playground time is so difficult and overwhelming. Awareness is so important. And the older my son is getting, the more I'm undertanding the huge need for awareness in the schools, among the youth.

  19. I'd love a chance to win this book. I'm going to school to become a special education teacher, and autism is what sparked my interest in the first place. It was actually a book, The Curious Incident with the Dog in the Night Time (I think..) and ever since then (7 years ago!?) I've devoured books about children or adults with autism. I'm really excited for this hop because of the awareness it brings and maybe it'll help someone else figure out what they want to do with their life, like an autism-related book did me.

    Thanks for the chance,

  24. It's amazing the different levels of autism, my nephew is autistic but he can't speak, he is learning to sign and it's very difficult on the family. His outbursts and temper make it difficult to take him places but it's not an option to keep him home all the time. This is an amazing blog hop, I didn't realize how many authors have written stories about characters with autism, thanks for the information!
