Locked in an unexpected land dispute, Rafe Stryker is trapped in the one place he vowed never to return to – the Castle Ranch in Fool’s Gold, California. He made millions facing ruthless adversaries in the boardroom, but nothing could’ve prepared him to go head-to-head against stubborn, beautiful Heidi Simpson. No one is more surprised than Rafe to discover that he’s finding Heidi – and life as a cowboy – much more compelling than he wants to admit. For Heidi, the Castle Ranch is the home she’s always wanted. After a life on the road, the vivacious blonde has finally put down roots. She won’t give that up without a fight, not even for a man whose late-night kisses make her yearn to be a little less…wholesome. As the two turn from passionate adversaries to passionate, period, they’ll discover that summer love can last a lifetime.

Susan Mallery has done it again! She brings you back into Fool's Gold with the story of two new characters that you can't help but root for from the first page until the end.

Rafe and Heidi find themselves fighting for a home on a beautiful piece of land that puts them in a difficult situation; a situation that leads to Rafe and his mother moving in with Heidi and her Grandfather until their next court date over this property. His mother is adamant on owning it and she will do anything to keep it. This property is all Heidi has and she refuses to let it go. Everyone is living under the same roof trying to decide how to WIN. But the little time Rafe and Heidi spend together was enough for them to fall in love.

I loved reading this book and watching these two fall in love. They were funny, stubborn, and super sexy when together. Summer Days has a hot scene in it and it's been a long time since I've read a scene this yummy in one of Mallery's books. I have to admit, I liked it a lot. It was written so well that I actually got butterflies in my stomach.

It’s no secret how much I love this series. They have a little bit of everything from laughter, romance, struggles, sadness, happiness... I mean, you find it all in her books, and Summer Days was no different. Plus, you don’t really have to read the books in order to understand what is happening. Each book tells the story of different characters. This series is so easy to follow. The characters are also very believable and you can easily connect with them. I am happy she has taken Fool's Gold this far. Mallery has a way of making you feel like you are a part of this small town and you're just watching everything from the sidelines waiting for your story to be told. I love it!

If you haven't picked up a book in this series, I highly recommend that you do. There is nothing complicated about them and they are fast reads and great summer reads.

5 out of 5 Stars!

  2. I'm proud to be one of the Fool's Gold Cheerleaders! Susan's Fool's Gold series is my absolute favorite. Not only do you wish the town and characters were real, you feel like it all is. Susan goes above and beyond other authors by giving us updates between the stories and after the HEA through her website http://foolsgoldca.susanmallery.com/ I really enjoyed Rafe and Heidi's story. Their love bloomed gradually and they were both really real characters. And I know exactly what scene you're talking about too ;) I look forward to reading more about our favorite fictional town this summer :D

  3. I love the Fool's Gold series by Susan Mallery. All of the books are different--some are more serious, and some are downright hilarious! It keeps the story line fresh and I don't feel like "Oh, I've read this before; this is just like the last one." Rafe and his siblings lost their father at an early age and Rafe had to become the "man of the house". He's never been able to let that responsibility go. Heidi is so glad to finally have roots, after traveling most of her life, she'll do anything to stay there. I really enjoyed getting to know this new family and can't wait to meet the other siblings. Now, I just wish there was a real Fool's Gold!

  4. I am proud to be one of the Fool's Gold Cheerleaders!! I love the Fool's Gold Series, which is my favorite series by Susan Mallery. I love series because you get to know each of the characters throughout each of the books. Once I read "Chasing Perfect" (Book #1), I was hooked & I did not want to leave Fool's Gold. I just wished that this town was real!

I love that the next 3 books we are getting to know a new family in Fool's Gold now, Rafe & his brothers- The Cowboys!! I can not wait to read the other 2 books! Summer Days was a great book & I know the other 2 books will be, too!

    1. Since May, I have also read Summer Nights. It has became my favorite of all of the Fool’s Gold books. Summer Nights is another great summer read. Annabelle is caring, a great friend, & so sweet! I love that Annabelle wanted to learn how to ride a horse for her fundraiser for her bookmobile. There is 1 thing that I absolutely love a lot & it has to do with Shane, but I am not going to give it away.
