I’ve seen so many freaky things since I started attending Mythos Academy last fall. I know I’m supposed to be a fearless warrior, but most of the time, I feel like I’m just waiting for the next Bad, Bad Thing to happen. Like someone trying to kill me—again.

Everyone at Mythos Academy knows me as Gwen Frost, the Gypsy girl who uses her psychometry magic to find lost objects—and who just may be dating Logan Quinn, the hottest guy in school. But I’m also the girl the Reapers of Chaos want dead in the worst way. The Reapers are the baddest of the bad, the people who murdered my mom. So why do they have it in for me?

It turns out my mom hid a powerful artifact called the Helheim Dagger before she died. Now, the Reapers will do anything to get it back. They think I know where the dagger is hidden, but this is one thing I can’t use my magic to find. All I do know is that the Reapers are coming for me—and I’m in for the fight of my life.

Dark Frost is the third book in Estep's FROST series, and definitely my favorite out of all three. If you've read my reviews of Touch of Frost and Kiss of Frost, you can almost tell that I have a love hate relationship with this series. It's the only series that gets me frustrated, happy, and annoyed all in one, but yet I can't seem to stop reading it. I am always left craving more and curious to know what will happen next.

The first book to me was more of an introduction to Gwen and her world. The second book was a lot better and of course full of action. But Dark Frost, to me, definitely delivers a lot more. It's just as action packed and suspenseful as the others, but in this book Gwen definitely grows a lot more and the story progresses. Finally, things are where I was hoping they would be. I really like how much she has grown in this book and her friends’ right along with her.

One other thing I loved about Dark Frost is that I wasn’t even into chapter three yet, and SO much had already happened. The story opens with action and ends with action, and it definitely ran at a much faster pace than the others. There were a couple of twist and a super happy ending. Gwen’s relationship with Logan has finally taken the next step and the way things ended with them left me feeling complete. I love Logan and I am a huge fan of his.

I recommend this series, especially for those who love lots of action with a sprinkle of romance. This is a great series for adults and young adults. I like where the story is headed so I am now eagerly waiting for book four, Crimson Frost.

A Good Choice for Reading!

4 out of 5 stars!

  3. Sheesh, I can't believe I still haven't read this series! Or any of this author's books yet, actually. Everyone raves about them, I have to get off my butt and do it soon. Thanks for the review--so good to see you're giving this one 4 stars even after 3 books into the series! Always a good sign.
